Using the NS3 as a controller
Using the NS3 as a controller
I am on the verge of buying the NS3 as the core of my setup...
But my problem is that i need to controll 3 midi channels for extra sounds..
First there is the SD40 from ketron
Its for solo gigging..
I will use 1 midi channel for controlling arrangement parts
And another midi channel for comtrolling the right hand high quallity traditional solo sounds..
But i also want to controll my vst’s on my macbook(mainstage) on a 3rd midi channel..
Now i can live with not having all 3 available at the same time
Since the NS3 only has 2 external cannels
But can i switch midi send channels on an external pannel when i switch registrations
Or are the midi channels set as global vallues?

Re: Using the NS3 as a controller
You can set any of the Midi channels on a per program basis. You could have a number of programs that could be set up to use the midi channel of the device you need to control. You can then set up the extern section for each of these programs to play the correct octave, patch, volume etc for your external modules. I use this method to change patches on my A1 on channel 7. I would also recommend in this case to turn the global midi channel off. The Extern section is one of the most powerful features of the Nord Stage 3.

Thanks this makes this option viable for me... even allows me to add some of my modules..DJKeys wrote:You can set any of the Midi channels on a per program basis. Re: Using the NS3 as a controller
Yes. You should make sure you are not sending any volume changes with your pedals as well in the extern setup for that program, as they can alter the original setting.
