Hi, I've been a happy owner of Nord Stage 4 for a few days. I write because I have a problem with using the NS4 with an external keyboard. I have been a Nord user for many years and have often used my ns2 ex and then the ns3 midi hooked up with an external midi keyboard and using dual KB mode. I tried with my new NS4 but I think something is wrong, some controllers don't work as they should. Example: if I only use layer c of the synth section, therefore with the aux Kb function and try to control the volume of layer C with the external midi master, the midi cc also acts on the other layers A and B, why? Is there something wrong with the settings? Another example: organ section, some controls such as perussion on/off, vibrato on/off, drawbars don't respond if driven by the external master midi, the slow/fast rotary does, where am I wrong? if indeed, by making a few attempts, I manage to get these controls to work, but the sound is not heard. where am i wrong? is this a problem that needs to be fixed? If not, could you help me solve this problem?

Hi. What is the configuration of MIDI Channels for Global, AuxKB and Layers on your NS4 (and on the external master)? Just to check potential issues at that level

OK, all those (1) in parenthesis means they are disabled, because 1 is already in use by Global, try to change them to Off or a different channel from 3 to 16

Yes Maxpiano, I've already made these attempts, I've tried them all.
the only way to make the midi controls work is to set the midi channel of the layer to the same midi channel as the aux kb, but the result is that it doesn't play, it doesn't send the note message, and in any case the problem still remains that by controlling the volume from the master midi it acts on the whole section, for example I set organ A as aux kb only and the volume controlled by the master also acts on organ B, the same thing happens in the synth section, I set layer C only as aux kb and when I control the volume with the midi master, the midi control acts in all layers of the synth section.
It shouldn't be like this, because I've been using the midi master for years to play and control some sections or layers of the previous NS3 and it has always worked very well and independently.
In the photo I am attaching you can see the settings that I use and have used with NS3 and that have always worked very well, which does not correspond with NS4 and therefore with the problems indicated.

I agree the problem with volume is not ok, could be a bug, I suggest to open a ticket to Nord support via the form on their web site.

Anyway, in general it is better to avoid overlapping channels and in your picture I still see (1) on the two Panels (should not be related to the volume issue, but you never know)

Yes maxpiano, that was what I thought too, but it has always worked well and has never given me problems, setting the panels to other midi channels doesn't change anything, boh............ the important thing is that the midi dual kb channel corresponds to the midi channel set on the external midi keyboard. However it always worked well.
As you say it could be a bug, but not just the volume issue, even those of all the unresponsive controls, pith bend, modulation wheel, etc.....
I sent a report to the Nord official website via the "Contact Technical Support" service.
I await response and see what they say.

In my eyes, you should check each issue separately:

> volume control might be an issue of addressing ExtKB vs. addressing layers/engines separately (ExtKB works a little differently from NS3 DualKB IIRC)

ciao, ho controllato e mi sono accertato che il CC midi fossero quelli elencati dal manuale, i drawbars appartengono agli stessi cc midi di ns3, così come altri della sezione synth....... ho fatto segnalazione ufficiale, vediamo cosa dicono
