What is the proper way to connect the stage EX to my interface to tap the full potential during recording?

dual TS out of channel 1 and 2 to dual mono channels in DAW

dual TRS out of channel 1 and 2 to dual mono channels in DAW

Note that you *can* use TRS plugs to no ill effect — the ring just won't be used, as the Stage has non-symmetric outputs. It won't matter either way.

True in most cases, but if you're running into a balanced input with a TRS to TRS cable, I guess you could be in a situation where the signal from the North (running between T and S) runs into the overall screen (S) and one end of the balanced line (T, the +ve signal) with the other (R, the -ve signal) floating, resulting in nothing but a bit of a noise (unless the North also connects the R to the S internally)?

It's not as bad, though, as running a stereo TRS signal from e.g. the headphones out to a balanced TSR, since it will remove all centered sounds and typically leave you with the reverb and chorus effect only

Obviously we don't know what input the DAW of the OP have, but I think a few also may have balanced input on TRS jack cables (I think I saw one such some years ago).

I actually have studio machines with unbalanced outputs that *won't* work with TRS cables into balanced inputs (the LinnDrum comes to mind) and where I have to insert a mono plug into the half-normalled jacks on the patchbay to short out the ring.

I wouldn't worry about it in the OP's case.
