Transpose in song-section
Hi folks, I play the same song in different bands at different pitches. I need the ability to transpose into songs-section. So far this has only been possible with the program-section. However, if I have to store the same sound at different pitches, it costs too much memory in my NS3.
Do you have the same situation?
Is a solution in prospect from nord?
Thank you, greetings from Germany.

Re: Transpose in song-section
Hi-
I see you posted this in the Wish List thread as well. You cannot transpose in Song Mode.
The best solution for you is to store individual programs in their different keys, such as Jump, Jump Bb, Jump D, etc. Unless you have more that 5 different keys for a single song, you could then program them in the 5 song slots and get to any of them with a single button click. You could also have Songs Jump and Jump2 and add 5 more different transpositions.

Re: Transpose in song-section
For this I would use the global transpose for whichever band if you play with a band that detunes a half step. Or learn the song in different keys. Do you really have that many examples of this?

Re: Transpose in song-section
Hi Helmuth,
for me forgetting to set back the tune to normal after a de-tuned song is by far riskier than starting it in the wrong tune. It happened to me once live on stage. This experience made me saving seperat detuned programs for these few songs, always.
Cheers from the middle of Germany

Re: Transpose in song-section
I stopped using transpose just for this reason. When starting a song, i could remember to change the pitch, but after song not. It happend several times that I forgot this.Tasten-Bert wrote:Hi Helmuth,

Some song level settings seems to be really nice:
- Transpose
- External Program changes (My Stage controls my NW2 for selecting programs via the external section, now I have many programs on the Stage that only differ in external PC setting)

Re: Transpose in song-section
thank you for your answers. I now that I have to save them in program-section. But the pitty is, I do not have enough free slots/memory in the program-section. 25 songs with five song-parts each, in two bands... you need 75 songs (doubles) extra in the program-section. Can this not be solved by saving the transpose in the song-section though? I know that this is not working. but i wish it would.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Transpose in song-section
That sounds like a crazy situation if you have that many examples of transposing across multiple bands - all I've ever seen in a several decades of playing live gigs is some bands have guitarists that all detune by 1/2 step to help the vocalists out a bit, or maybe shift a song down several steps if the first one was really high (again to help the vocalists). Seems like a really niche situation! How have you managed this with all your other gear?

I do not believe that is a niche situation. Song mode lacks of flexibility. Full stop. Is a 'best of patches' organised, but attributes and fine tuning is far away.

Re: Transpose in song-section
The "song mode" entries are like Windows Shortcuts or Mac Aliases. They contain no information, they are only pointers to something that exsists elsewhere. Changes can only be saved in the actual file they point to.
There is an upside to this. If you use the same sound in a dozen songs, and you tweak that sound to improve it, the improved version will now be used in every song that pointed to it, instead of having to make that same change in a dozen songs.

Re: Transpose in song-section
I changed from my miditemp mp-88 to use the extern-section. To use the extern-section is very comfortable and I wanted to reduce my gear (too heavy...). But as I play in more bands again, you are very reduced to play with the extern-section, especially when you have to transpose the same sounds. The 400 programs, believe me, are not enough. (for coverbands...)ericL wrote:That sounds like a crazy situation if you have that many examples of transposing across multiple bands - all I've ever seen in a several decades of playing live gigs is some bands have guitarists that all detune by 1/2 step to help the vocalists out a bit, or maybe shift a song down several steps if the first one was really high (again to help the vocalists). Why can we not use the transpose in global for the song-section? That should be very easy to program.
I will return to use the miditemp. I am more flexible there.
Thanks.
