sudden boot up & boot loop

Post by casiomanchris »

I know that sudden boot ups have been a topic in this forum but I could not find the proper thread...

All of a sudden, my Stage Classic Compact boots up during playing (or even without playing or pressing buttons) and sometimes ends up in a boot loop.

Is there anything else I can do besides checking/cleaning the ribbon cable (between keyboard and motherboard)?

Greeting from Dresden,
Chris

Hello Dresden Chris! (this has much nicer ring to it)

Ribbons between keyboard and mainboard will not have an effect on this. The ribbon cables on which you want to focus cleaning efforts are power supply to mainboard and panelboards to mainboard, both ends of each one. No guarantees, but many have had positive results from this.

As Pablo said + if cables are OK then it is likely that the power supply board has some malfunction that requires servicing.

if cleaning cables does not produce positive results, power supply will be just one of several places to look for a deeper answer

best left to the judgment of the tech examining the instrument on her/his bench

Hi Pablo,
I'm not sure which screws on the bottom I have to unscrew (Compact Classic).
So far I unscrewed the 4 end panel screws and the 5 panel screws from the rear.
Can you please help?
Later!
Chris

PS: I found it. It's the only one which is "not in line" (right beside the ventilation).

PPS: I carefully vacuumed the inside of the instrument and the plugs of the ribbon cables and applied a little contact spray (electrical contact and tuner spray). How long should I wait before putting everything together?

Just a few minutes then you can reassemble and test it (maybe wait to put back all the screws till you are confident all is fine and no further need to keep the NS open).

PS: take also a look to the power supply board and see if you can spot any visibly altered component, e.g. a "swollen capacitor (or take some pictures and post them here so we can try to check that for you)

Gut! Maybe it was just some bad contact or misplaced connector
