Stage 3 Output Options

Postby MikeBusby » 22 Dec 2019, 21:31

Having just got a new Stage 3 HP76, I am reading through the manual for the output routing options. In my band, we play venues where we use the in-house PA and engineer. I play a lot of piano and organ, with smaller amounts of sampled brass and strings. It seems clear that I should have stereo for the piano and organ, and that means my main out put should go through channels 1 and 2.

I am reading that you can route one of the sound engines to a third channel.

Do people feel that I should have the piano and organ engines defaulting in stereo to channels 1 and 2, and have the synth engine going in mono through channel 3? Or is there a better way?

Hi Mike,

why do you consider at all sending the synth through another output than piano and organ?

The easiest way is to leave all on 1 and 2, unless you have a specific need for doing something different. I myself for example have sent the organ on output 3 in mono because I go into a Neo Ventilator and from there Stereo to the main mixer. If I would not use a Vent I would also go through 1 and 2 for all engines.

I agree with Schorsch, you're the best judge of the mix you want, so keeping it stereo through 1 and 2 should work well. Take care.

I need to hear monitor input in headphones only. Is it possible?

Monitor in is always output to outputs 1-2 + headphones.

Yes but with some constraints if you want to have monitor input AND the signal of the Nord Stage in your headphones, but Nord Stage signal ONLY out to your mixer. In that case you would route the main output of the Stage 3 to outputs 1-4, which will send all Stage signals to all outputs but the monitor input to headphones and output 1-2 only, means you would send outputs 3 and 4 to your mixer only to keep the monitor input away from the mixer signal. The constraint is that you will not have the rotary effect going out to your mixer, since this is going to outputs 1 and 2 only. Less of a problem though if you use anexternal leslie sim like the Neo Vent
