Software freeze/crash on NS EX

Post by dennispau »

I have what I think is a Software freeze/crash on my NS EX. The display has gone blank, lights are blinking and are on/off at a random order.
I have succesfully updated both the OS and done a factory reset. I didn´t fix it. Anybody have experienced something similar? Is there anything to do?

I think I remember having read something in this forum about ribbon cables being loose which may cause such kind of error. You may open the chassis and check them

Thanks for the answer. It could be, but the error acccured when my daughter was "fooling around" on the instrument, pushing all different kinds of buttons.
Is there a way to reset/reboot the instrument? (apart from updating the OS and a doing a factory reset) I've been looking in the manual, but can't seem to find anything...

No I don’t think so, the only way is to download the factory restore file from the nord webpage and use Sound Manager to perform a restore. Would still advise to look at the cables, they may have been a bit loose already and your daughter gave them the final hit .....

Not the Factory Restore but the OS Updater is what is needed, Factory Restore only restores Programs.

However I also think that is worth checking the flat cables first and then, if not solved, try to boot the NS2 in update mode (powering it on while keeping Shift+Store pressed) and proceed with SW update.

Yes you’re correct, I forgot about the OS updater  as far as I understood this is not about the NS2 but the NS Ex (Stage Classic)?

In fact both are needed to achieve a full factory reset, for the NS Ex these can be downloaded here...

- OS update:
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sites/defa ... 0v6.08.zip
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sites/defa ... 0v6.08.dmg

- Factory Restore: http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sites/defa ... 20revA.nsb. ( needs Sound Manage)

Thanks! I'm now up and running again. The key was to power on while holding down SHIFT and STORE
