slots not working independently

Postby scotty_perey » 19 Jun 2018, 21:00

Hi everyone! This is my first post... I've had my Nord for a while, but something started confounding me that wasn't a problem in the past: I can't seem to get the two Slots to be independent of each other. If I turn on a piano, organ, or synth on one Slot, it is automatically assigning it on the other Slot as well, and I can't separate them. Sometimes however, I am noticing that I *can* have, for instance, the synth SHOWING as turned on in Slot A but off in Slot B, yet I am hearing the synth nonetheless regardless of whether I have A or B exclusively selected. In other words, no matter what I do, I am getting no differentiation of my output based on my Slot choices. OR my keyboard split point (with different zone settings) for that matter... this seems to be ignored completely as well. I do see that some of the LEDs of the effects settings are changing as I switch back and forth from A to B, but again, none of this is reflected in the sound. It seems like the output is simply the sum of whatever happens to be active on either Slot at any given time.

I have tried hunting down system settings, tried switching from Global to Program output settings, made sure all outputs are set to 1&2, etc, but at this point i am completely flummoxed. I am starting to wonder if there is a bug in the keyboard's operating system that needs to be reset, because I never had this much trouble with slots or getting a split set up.

Thanks for any insights!

Cheers,

~scotty

Hi Scotty - a couple of basic questions to help get things started:

1. Has your NS3 always worked like this, or was there a time where it worked correctly?
2. In your example of the synth being “on” in Panel A and “off” in Panel B, when you select Panel B, is the Panel B light solid and the Panel A light off? If so, you are in single panel mode and there would seem to be a problem.

If the Panel B light is blinking and the Panel A light is solid, then you are in dual panel mode and have both panels activated. Tap the Panel A and Panel B buttons simultaneously to toggle between single Panel and dual panel mode.

I’m with ajstan.

You can set any program on the Stage to switch between either Slot A or Slot B, or both slots being active at the same time.

Tapping both panel buttons at the same time switches between those to modes.
