Remove Unused Sample(s) from Program
Hi folks,
I own a Stage 3. My question: is there a way to remove unused sample(s) from programs? For example, my preferred B3 program refers to the Royal Grand 3D, even though I don’t use it there. I think I got into this bind by not building my own programs starting with an empty program. I can choose a NEW sample from the list, but I cannot seem to find a way to select No Sample, and therefore not have it show up in the Sound Manager as using that sample.
I hope that explanation is clear! I searched the forum to see if this is a common problem that has a solution, but found nothing. If the answer has already been provided, please refer me to it.
Thanks,
Mike

If you only need the organ, switch off the piano and store it. You must not remove the sample.

@taxman, you probably meant 'needn't'.
I don't think there is a way to create a program without a piano sample pre-selected. If small files are essential, just select the smallest sample you have.

Re: Remove Unused Sample(s) from Program
Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I should clarify; I have samples I cannot delete, because they are “in use” (i.e., referred to in a program), even though they are not utilized. I know I can switch to another smaller sample, however that seems like a kluge compared to the program not referring to a sample at all, as some do.FZiegler wrote:I don't think there is a way to create a program without a piano sample pre-selected. Thanks again,

Re: Remove Unused Sample(s) from Program
Samples are related to single sections, not to the whole Program.Mike Yocum wrote:program not referring to a sample at all, as some do.
Then, while NS Synth section may or may not refer to a sample (depending on its OSC mode), the Piano Section always refers to the last selected Piano sample (or first Grand location one, if no selection) , even if switched off in the Program, to be ready in case you want to switch it on "live".
If that sample is not available on the keyboard you will get an error when you switch the section on (and you will have to select a valid sample to make it sound), but if you don't plan to do that there is no issue to leave it as is, even if that piano sample is no longer on the keyboard.

Re: Remove Unused Sample(s) from Program
As noted by maxpiano, a program will retain information for all sections of the Stage 3 (even if they aren't initially used) so that the user can easily add/remove them during performance. The program size itself is not based on the pianos/samples selected, however when saving a NS3 backup file, any related Piano and NSMP3 files will be saved as well. If you would prefer to have a different piano saved by default, you can move Royal Grand 3D to a different memory location using Nord Sound Manager and place your preferred piano in the first spot. Good luck!Mike Yocum wrote:Hi folks, I own a Stage 3. My question: is there a way to remove unused sample(s) from programs?...
