Recommended program switch pedal for Nord Stage 2 in 2023?
Recommended program switch pedal for Nord Stage 2 in 2023?
Hi,
I read that tech21 midi mouse pedal is recommended for switching programs in Stage 2, i searched for it and found it online but it is crazy expensive - i just need it for the purpose of switching programs... Any chance there is alternative pedal?

Hi, NS2 has no dedicated input for Program switching so the only way to do it is via MIDI
If your setup includes a computer/tablet you may use an app that can manage Setlists and also send Program Changes to the NS (Mainstage, CAmelot Pro, Cantabile, Bandhelper and the likes...) , which can be triggered by a Bluetooth pedal (for example, or a pedal connected to the NS itself or to another keyboard of your setup, by converting its CC to a Prog change command)
If you have a secondary synth or master keyboard connected to NS2 via MIDI and that can send Program changes (triggered by a pedal connected to it), that can also be an alternative.
The rest of possibilities is about DIY a MIDI pedal similar to the Tech 21's, using some Arduino board or similar (but I guess you are not looking at this type of solution, otherwise you would have not asked the question)

I use Boss FS series for my Stage 3. Should also work for the NS2.
Different models with features, quite cheap.

Nope, NS2 has no "Prog Up/Dn Pedal" input, it was added to NS3 for the first time...cookie wrote:I use Boss FS series for my Stage 3. Should also work for the NS2.

My bad. NS2 program changes is indeed triggered via MIDI from my NS3... with the footswitch.maxpiano wrote:Nope, NS2 has no "Prog Up/Dn Pedal" input, it was added to NS3 for the first time...cookie wrote:I use Boss FS series for my Stage 3. Should also work for the NS2.

Which of these software would you recommend and which bluetooth pedal? Also where to connect such pedal in ns2? I have only one keyboard.maxpiano wrote:Hi, NS2 has no dedicated input for Program switching so the only way to do it is via MIDI

How come there are no retail midi pedal alternatives to tech21? Aren't guitarist use such pedals?

Thanks for the suggestion. But using GS 2 doesn't seem feasible.cookie wrote:I use Boss FS series for my Stage 3. Should also work for the NS2.

Your answer appears quite cryptic to me.
If you don't have a Stage 3 or 4, you won't need a program switch pedal - there is no such function on a Grand or Piano 5. And I don't understand what you could mean by 'GS 2' either.
Besides, welcome to the forum!
