Problem with sustain in high octave

Postby Andrii » 04 May 2018, 16:52

Hi!

I just updated my Nord Stage 3, and in the Grand Piano patches the sustain from G in the last octave for some reason seems super excessive. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Just like on a real piano, the top notes will ring whether you use the sustain pedal or not (they have no dampers on them).

(This should be a sticky...)

I know about dampers of course, but this is just too much.

You mention you "just updated" you Nord -- so this is something that just started happening after an update?

Do you have the compressor engaged?

The issue was there before the update but it’s much worse now. Before it sounded closer to how a real piano would react. Thanks for answering!

That’s because a piano key either has a damper, or it doesn’t. There is no gradual lessening of the presence of a felt and wood damper. They’re just left off (above the G# on my Yamaha CP70, and above the D# on my Toyo upright).

Up to the G#/D#: staccato works as expected.
Above the G#/D#: as if sustain were pressed.

There should be sustain but not this much. I do get your point though!

Hi All - This is my first post. I'm noticing the same thing. I recorded it. Let me know what you think. No sustain pedal. Just starting with C and up the scale...
quite a noticeable difference when it hits the G.

Anyone else noticing this? I don't recall it this bad before the update or at all on my E5
