Hi,
I'm on a brand new NS3 sw73, OS 1.46. I'm trying to control Panel B from an external controller as I did on NS2 (NOT in dual kb mode, I'm aware of the changes in functionality)

The problem is that when Panel B is active, I can use sustain to control the extern section of panel B (sending to MainStage). As soon as I make Panel A active, the sustain pedal will not work on the extern section of panel B.

Another thing is that in either panel, I'm not able to use the expression pedal I've connected to the external controller. It will control the synth section of Panel B, but not the extern section even the midi/extern menus are properly set....soft thru is on, extern settings are ON (sending Expr)

Any clues? I can live without the old dual kb functionality- but only if Panel Midi will work!

To simplify: Anyone have experience with pedal bugs (sustain cc#64/control/expression cc#11) in Midi Panel A/B when using external controller (Midi in to NS3), soft thru and Extern sections active?
Any workarounds?
I was scrolling through all of the "known issues/bugs" sheet last night, but couldn't find the exact same problem. I have contacted support, but I really need to get programming today. So if anyone has a hint or can shed some light...

This sounds normal to me, if a Panel is inactive also its Extern is inactive, same on the NS2.

I am afraid this may be due to the way NS3 handles the Panels MIDI and DualKeyb mode, I don’t own it so I cannot help in the detail but I remember you can select a “Panel Mode” or a “Single Section Mode” , sound like you need to use DualKeyb in Panel mode to do what you ask.

But actually, no - I came from a NS2 and (just tested it to confirm now): NS2 Panel Midi B extern pedals works fine - even when Panel A is active (Slot A on NS2). That's the whole point with Soft thru ON - so you can reroute incoming external MIDI notes and pedals via NS3 to another external device in the background. This is even the setup I was encouraged to use when I contacted Nord support concerning the different functionality of Dual Kb on NS3 (from OS 1.28 or something).
I'll try to downgrade NS3 to 1.40 now just in despair...

Ah! Sorry I didn’t understand you meant the “external” sustain pedal with SoftThru on, I though you meant the NS’ .
Still I would have expected that if the Panel is inactive then also the Soft Thru of that panel’s Extern would, but I never used such a configuration so I trust you tested it.

Well... let us know if the downgrade fixes the issue.

Hi,
I have the same issue with pitchbend and modwheel messages from external Midi keyboard when i try to control extern section.
External Midi keyboard control perfectly the NS3 inner sounds (panel A or B depending of selected midi channel) but when trying to control an Midi expander via extern section the pitchbend work only if the panel with the same midi channel is active.The modwheel doesn’t work at all.
Pitchbend and modwheel messages are sent well to midi expander with NS3 pitchstick and NS3 modwheel ...

NS3 OS v 1.46 Extern section ON with Soft Thru ON and midi send data (wheel, AT, Express, Swell) ON for
each panel.

unfortunately it didn't help downgrading to 1.40.

Jean-mimi, it seems you are experiencing the same bug. No CC info gets rerouted even when midi send data is ON (only works when the actual Panel is active)
This worked perfectly on NS2, I just can't see how this should be a persisting problem on NS3 a year after release.

Update: Nord support confirms the bug, hopefully it will be addressed in the next OS update. Fingers crossed.

As already reported this is a bug, ns3 does not send and / or receive some midi controls, swell pedal, expression pedal, and someone else. I have written several times to support the nord, I really hope that solve the problem soon, it is unacceptable that a keyboard of this level is not supported or that it should have all these bugs!
