Organising programs in Song Mode
When I had my Stage 2, in order to have all the programs in the setlist order, I did organise my programs the following way :
* Assign each programs to the "User" category (so I can filter quickly in the NSM and in the SortMode/category menu on the NS2)
* Rename each program with "01 sound_for_song1_in_setlist_1", "02 sound_for_song2_in_setlist1"...
I could therefore organise (filter) the programs in the setlist order using the "SortMode" / ABC on the Stage 2. And just move the big encoder to move up to the next program in the setlist.
I have the Stage 3, and still doing the same old trick as I converted many programs and kept the naming.
I'll change to Song Mode but want to understand 1 thing : this is more like defining 5 programs per song and has nothing to do with setlist (in my case 1 program = 1 song) ?
Therefore I need to define song 1:01 as "Setlist 1 = 5 first songs" and assign my "old" programs 01* to 05* to each slot ?
Then "song 1:02" will be setlist1 but with songs 6 to 10 and so forth ?
I will of course in the end remove the 2 digits before the program name but am I getting this correctly ?

Re: Organising programs in Song Mode
Hi, Fred-
I think the easiest way to accomplish this is to create a song for every program you need. That way, if you need additional programs in the same song, you can just add them later and get to them with a single button click. Once you have a song for every program, you can go into the NSM and rearrange the songs in the order of the setlist you are playing that night.

Re: Organising programs in Song Mode
I still miss the ABC Sort mode on the NS2, as I used a very similar method as Fred, plus Pending Load, where I could simply spin the knob to find the next Program towards the end of the prior song and have it sitting there pending load until I confirmed it.
On the NS3, I have worked up a system in which I have Songs named for each and everything on the set list, even if it may be repetitive for some sounds. I use the Organize feature within the NS3 either before the gig at home or during setup, as it is pretty quick to drag and drop things around within the instrument and not need to always depend on having the laptop and NSM.
One other thing I've done is I have a couple of "templates" for lack of a better term that I call something like "Eric's Main Sounds" and I have a useable set of my favorite sounds right there at my beck and call. I always have this assigned in the very first Song position, so if I need to dial in some general sounds quickly like a random song gets called, I can just spin the Program select knob quickly and know that the first Song contains a solid Piano, Wurly, Organ, CP80, synth layers, etc.

Re: Organising programs in Song Mode
@ericL, great idea to have a "5 programs toolbox" in song 1:01 !
I'll check the organise function directly on the NS3 once I created all my songs (1 song=1 program) using NSM.
Thank you for sharing your experience !

Re: Organising programs in Song Mode
hi same as Eric, 1st entries in songbook are generic programs, then next are song specific .... with a couple of duplicate but I prefer to do it like this, so if I tweak a program for a song, only this song is affected. Also with NSM it is very simple to reorganise the songs according your setlist.

Re: Organising programs in Song Mode
Same as Eric (What's in a name).
I have a few program's shared between songs. Because I use the Song mode also to select program on the Wave2 using the external section, i have to duplicate almost similar programs just because there is another program change in the external section.
For me it would be useful if the song mode could output an extra Program change. Then I could use the same program on the NS3.
We mostly stick to a setlist, so preparing this at home with a laptop or using the organise function work great.
Very quick during live shows!
During rehearsals it is not so conveniënt as I have to search in the setlist for a certain song.... (using the 'list' mode helps and a paper copy of the setlist)

Re: Organising programs in Song Mode
At first I organized my setlists in just plain programs and put them in order. Then I started using Song Mode because some songs I play need muliple programs (or I play songs as a medley). Then it's much easier to arrange the setlist once these programs stay together under one entity (a Song).
I first made the mistake of arranging my setlist so that I had multiple songs' programs under one Song in memory, but then if I needed to for instance add or move one song around, I would have to start editing all the Songs instead of just moving Songs around in NSM.
So only put multiple programs in a single Song, if they are always played consecutively.

Re: Organising programs in Song Mode
Question: In Song mode, is there a way to Copy Part 1 to Part 2, 3, 4 & 5, using Copy/Paste?
I have tried the obvious Copy Part One, Paste Part 2 way, but that doesn't work. I just want a faster way than going through each Part and selecting the same program 5 times. I want to do this so that if I accidentally hit one of those buttons in the middle of a song, or step on my Program Switch pedal, I don't change my sound on songs that I only use 1 program for.
