Re: NS4 compact vs NS4 73

For what it's worth, I've been bring my Electro 6 73 (same action as the Compact w/o aftertouch) to rehearsals lately and playing pretty much all piano on it. It's been great. The action is not as finessed for pure piano playing as my Piano 5 73, but in the din of a full band playing, I've had no problem at all and even forget I'm not playing a weighted keyboard.

The carrying weight differential is significant, since I need to haul it up a long and steep staircase every few weeks.

One more point - if you're looking to save your back, I would suggest you stay away from wheeled cases. While it may sound counter-intuitive since you drag and don't carry, the wheeled cases are often significantly heavier than a padded gig bag, which increase the burden of getting the instrument in/out of a vehicle and up stairs.

guys, thanks a lot for your experience and thoughts sharing! Frankly speakingб internally, I was leaning towards the NS4 Compact, but couldn't find any review of NS4 73 vs NS4C.
So, will end up with NS4C. thanks again!

I have used both compacts ns2 ns3 for past 10 years and once you go Nord it’s impossible to go back! I agree the compact is a must for transport - it’s a powerhouse package all-in-one, and the keybed is amazing to play and takes a beating. The standard rotary engine and some of the cut through synths makes my hands feel like they’re floating. The sense touch takes too much pressure for me also, but they keys stay steady they’re just amazing and can be played for hours of joy. I have to set timers to rest my hands from continuous play.

With this, piano playing is an easy adjustment, especially with a band of brothers and sisters where there’s other instruments and sounds. So, it’s worked fantastic for me for years.

Lately, I’m getting thirsty for some full sized keys, and crave full sized keys for practice. I’m now entering the market for a home controller and researching what to buy. Most electric keybeds in weighted category are too ‘bouncy’ for my taste and there are very few stores to get to try. I have long, thin fingers and have experienced cramped up horn punches, but hey, the band never complains. I’m excited to be on the end of bands, and lean more toward my home set up. The semi weighted has messed with me (not so much negatively) but enough that I feel I can’t let it go.

I highly adhere to a fully weighted keybed for piano, but the NS4 compact is an exception. It's extremely good for both piano and synth/organplaying
