Re: NS3 update 2.12
I get that the firmware will run on all NS3s. But the changes being discussed seem to be a bit more than just a different silk screen.
Re: NS3 update 2.12
From my past experience waiting for the initial sales of the NS3 the pipeline to the US distribution is a couple of months. So even if they started making the new ones today, it would likely be 60-90 days before they would show up in the USA sales channel.
It would of coarse be different for different geographic locations, but your profile indicates your here in the US like me.
Of coarse nobody except Nord would be able to tell you for sure when you might expect shipments here. Then of coarse you'd also still not be assured of getting one of the new ones as its not clear how many existing units are still in the pipeline.

Re: NS3 update 2.12
There's a lot of confusion in this thread. The NS3 has a current firmware version which fixes most of its early bugs. It's nice and light. If you've tried one and like it, no reason not to order one. Nord things are fun.

I don’t think so - there is no function in the latest firmware which cannot be accessed from the NS3 with the initial silk screen, it’s just a bit more comfortable using the new silk screen for some of the new/changed options

Re: NS3 update 2.12
Maybe we have different definitions of "silk screen" New buttons/LEDs wouldn't be a part of mine.
Re: NS3 update 2.12
I agree. There are new buttons shown in the new manual (and presumably on new shipments) and they are not just a silk screen change. Some have also moved (like the arp in the synth). As far as I can tell, there is a new piano type button in the piano section, and a new dial in the synth, plus a few more LEDs - in addition to silk screen changes. Not sure if I saw all changes though.gboser wrote:Maybe we have different definitions of "silk screen" New buttons/LEDs wouldn't be a part of mine.
But all the functions of the board can be accessed and used on either version. So you don't really miss out on anything substantial with the "old" version in terms of playing.
Whether you want to have the board and enjoy playing it now or wait some undefined number of months until someone else empty the stock, to get a (slightly?) upgraded interface, is something only you can decide, of course.
I guess we're just trying to help by providing the little info we may have...

Re: NS3 update 2.12
I also agree, and I would also love to have the new interface which makes access to some functions easier than with the old interface. But since these functions are available on the “old” ones as well, just with different access, we do not loose anything on our 1st or 2nd generation NS3 interfaces

Can you please tell how and where do you get that information details about the serial numbers?
also, anyone know if the 'Revision B v5.1' sign on the outer box? Or maybe the serial number?
thanks
