With months of flawless use, I’m having an issue with the transpose function.
No matter program setting, whether piano or custom programmed sound, when I transpose key, I’m hearing two sounds with transpose engaged, the root key and the transposed key, creating a clash. I’ve backed up and reloaded OS. Did not fix issue.
After a few hours of troubleshooting, I’m at a complete loss.
It seems I’m hearing a faint piano sound on every setting. My suspicion is I have a piano setting globally applied, and is not transposing with the transpose function engaged creating the issue. I can turn off the Piano engine, and can still hear this piano sound. Problem I’m having is if that is the indeed the case, I have no clue where to find that setting that I may have inadvertently set? I just don’t see that capability in the manual.
Hoping advance user somewhere out there can help me out.

Re: NS3 Transpose Issue Need Help
Sounds like you have attached a computer and routed a MIDI loop: Sending your notes out and getting them back to the local engine. MIDI notes are not necessarily transposed, so this could create that effect with one tone transposed, a second one not.

Re: NS3 Transpose Issue Need Help
Thank you for your reply. I’m a little embarrassed, but I would have never suspected this….as it’s the same set up I’ve been using for months.
I have my iMac connect to NS3 via USB. I also use Musescore to score out keyboard parts and looking/modifying sounds in the NS3 to fit at the same time. Somehow the keyboard started triggering the piano sound in Musescore! That’s the piano I was hearing which was clashing. No midi cable attached…
Holy cow, what a colossal waste of time.
Issue resolved.

Re: NS3 Transpose Issue Need Help
If you've got a Stage 3, you can set the "MIDI menu > 4 Transpose MIDI at" to "Out" - then your transposing will affect the notes sent by (USB) MIDI connection, too. That way you can have Musescore do whatever it wants - the sound of both sources will blend a lot better. Well, just kidding.
