Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
I came to read this thread because I was interested in the NS3C, but already had the "keybed/velocicity/piano/soft playing" disappointment with the NE4D, solved (for me) on the NS2C. Now I intend to keep that one, or try a NS3C in a shop before pulling the card trigger.
Owner manuals, spec sheets, comparison sheets, as good as they can be, are not enough.
There is a wise saying : "Always try before you buy ( if possible, or ensure you can easily get a refund if unsatisfied ).
These unexpected differences give a reason to keep something we're confortable with.
Thank you.

Still, the physical drawbars and the A1 synth engine are appealing features.
BTW, what about this latency subject on the NS3 ?
Is there a real issue about that ?

Hello ... Thank you for everything you said .. Very interesting .. It would be nice to analyze how the old north stage responded. In my opinion it was the one where you could play better the piano and the rhodes ... If you like I posted two videos in chapter 1.60 of this forum .... Just to listen to two samples of piano ac and electric ... With this new north I just can not get that answer

Yeah, you can't, I still don't know why, but I know they sound very diferent, if you listen to the DX7 samples you will noticed clearly differences between the piano release and to my ears they sound more full with the harmonics. Put that together with the fact that NS3 has a slightly latency so you fill that the piano attack isn't natural as they were in Ns2 and the velocity on the NS3C is very limited which seems to me like the pianos sound compressed. My experience it's just with NS3 and NS2 and BOTH COMPACT 73.leonardo 1 wrote:Hello ... Thank you for everything you said .. Very interesting .. Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
Forgive me for quoting the original post, but I think this entire discussion started out by a complaint that the pianos (for some, including @aureliopenna) appeared "brighter and thinner" and with less dynamics. Others (like @analogika) like(d) the fact that they are (were) brighter -- especially on the NS3C, I think.aureliopenna wrote:It's just me or the same exactly sound on NS3 sound more bright and thinner than on NS2?
If anything, the latest releases (1.5x and 1.60) may have made the pianos MORE dynamic, with a greater range where the darker tones can be utilized. To some (like @analogika on a NS3C) this is considered a step back towards a more NS2-like soundscape. For me (on the NS3 HA88), I like how it is now; it is a bit closer to the NP4 sound.
However, I'm not sure if the C and HA88 versions are similar in how they may respond comparing 1.60 to previous releases.
Obviously we may have very different preferences for how the pianos should sound.
But if I interpret the posts correctly, it appears as if @leonardo1 (on a HA88) and @aureliopenna (on a NS3C) are asking for two opposite things. Whatever 1.60 is, I would have thought it should have pleased ones wishes a bit and at the same time displease the others?
So maybe it's good to be specific on what should/could be different?
... just trying to wrap my heads around all of this!
Oh, and @leonardo1: The "old" NS2 has indeed been analysed and compared to the NS3; just go back and read the post

I can't tell, unfortunatelly. But we can all hope for some definitive OS and decide which one is better for each one. some like it the way it is and some don't.leonardo 1 wrote:In your opinion this thing can be improved with new updates ... Or not
But the important thing is that Clavia is showing their effort to make the board even better. Let's wait for the upcoming updates. Sure they will find a sweetspot for the majority users taste.

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
It would be great if there were different Velocity Curve Sets to choose from in the Sound menu

Yes Tomzi, totally agree. Who knows, maybe they will do it someday after solving what is really important first.tomzi wrote:It would be great if there were different Velocity Curve Sets to choose from in the Sound menu
