I also have the same feeling, still, It's a hard decision going to back to NS2 and even more if think that clavia release a New Nord Stage at least per decade...Larsdka wrote:Yes graphs and theory is one thing, to sit and play, feel and interact with the instrument is another thing. (and yes thats a personel thing)
But yes some kind of velocity option would be fine, but i don't think thats gonna happen.
But i will wait for the next Update..

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
I’m sorry if the answer I’m looking for is already in this thread, but I simply lost the overview here
Are the release samples in the Stage 3 still present like in NS2, but just quieter, or are they really gone??
Since I’m planning to play piano sounds on a Stage 3 Compact via my Nord Stage 2 EX 88 (NS2EX88 MIDI to NS3C), I’d like to know if it’s gonna sound better if I’d play the sounds on the Stage 2 EX internally, especially for E-Pianos..

But yes, TO ME, NS3 sound more dry beacause the "Zipp" sound after rhodes release note or are in very low volume or simply gone. To me this happens with all pianos sample sounds, one you can here more the differece other no so much.
Don't ask me why this happen, but as you can hear on the my earlies samples on this thread there is a difference, listen with headphones.
To my personal believe, this reflects a differente sample player preamp or a piano accoustics bad trimming, and the "organic" sound off. But this is just me. If you have a NS2 and NS3 I suggest you compare by yourself and decide which one sounds better for you.
If you hit and quickly release a note on an acoustic upright piano without pressing sustain pedal you will hear a lot o release sound. I miss that (even with release long activated) on NS3.

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
You know, I'm finishing on the same page. I don't think the Stage 3 works as a MIDI controller, bummer. I want a better keybed and I've come to view a lot of the piano library as marginal. The concept of the sound library is nice, I love swapping sounds on the Stage, but a lot of the grand samples have serious problems that just don't appear in Ableton instruments. The more I think about it, the more I'm sure I'm going to order a Lachnit and sell the Stage. Because I can, I guess, but there are a lot of issues here that Clavia just seems to be ignoring.
Edit: I just ordered a Prophet-X and put the Stage 3 up for sale along with my Prophet-rev2/16. It's been a fun few years in Nord land and I wish Clavia well. For what it is, the Stage is a nice instrument, but it's not what I want for my hobby.

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
Did someone already report the release sample problem to Nord?
If no, please can you do that?
I don’t play EPianos that often, but when I practise different styles I don’t wanna miss something I’m used to..
This issue and the lack of MIDI functions seem like a huge dealbreaker for me...
I’m really confused why Nord had to remove or crack essential features just to release a more expensive product with a few “all new” features ...
Don’t get me wrong - Seemless transitions, the new Synth and an additional split zone are very nice additions...

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
I'm confused, I cannot see how a Prophet X will replace a Stage 3 and a Rev2....You have an Analog beast with the Rev2...I can understand why you are pissed off about the Stage 3 but why not keeping the Rev2? It seems that you are more a Synth guy than a Stage/Piano guy because you are keeping the Nord Lead 3? I don't know, I was excited to see the Prophet X coming but I will never sell my Stage 2 or my P12 or my P08 to buy it, they are too much different....derrellpiper wrote:You know, I'm finishing on the same page. Agreed. The Prophet X does not have enough polyphony to ever seriously play piano on it.

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
It looks like he'd be using VSTs for piano. I can see it... the Prophet X is a better synth, and he wasn't really using Nord for piano anyway. (And no mention of needing organ.)Copia wrote:Agreed. The Prophet X does not have enough polyphony to ever seriously play piano on it.

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
Yes, I agree, it’s not a piano. I have software grands that will be great on graded hammer action and I don’t need the organs, though they do sound great. I also had a Lead A1 for a while and regard the Stage as a nice, easily approachable synth. See my other note in the X thread I started... I like the Stage. I’m just expecting it to be something it is not. I’d keep it if I had space.
