Re: Ns3. New os When ??

@analogika and @maxpiano - thanks for the replies. I’m just trying to figure out why Flange and Phaser behave differently than the other effects on the NS3.

For example, for all of these effects, I can set the Amount (or equivalent setting) to 0 with the effect of disabling the effect (and thus fully control the amount of the effect with the expression pedal):
A-Pan
Trem
RM
Wa-Wa
A-Wa 1
A-Wa 2
Vibe
Chor 1
Chor 2
Delay (Dry/Wet setting)
Drive
Reverb (Dry/Wet setting)
Compression

The other part of the effects question is: What is the basis for the model upon which each effect is designed? Is it how guitar pedals behave, how rack mounted DSP units work, or something else? If phasers and flangers in the analog world (or whatever the basis is) are no different than chorus, delay, was, distortion, etc., it would appear to be an arbitrary decision to not completely disable them when Amount is 0.

Anyhow, I guess I’ll submit a report/request to Nord and see what they say. I’ll report back if I get a response. Thanks again.

On the Auto-Pan, setting the depth to zero does not disable the effect. It allows you to pan the signal left or right with the other pot.

Other than that, I agree that it is inconsistent. I too would prefer the phaser and flanger to go to zero.

@analogika you are correct that when the A-Pan Rate is set to 0, then the Amount dial turns into a L/R panning control (0=Full Left, 5=Center, 10=Full Right).

If the A-Pan Rate is set to a non-zero value, then setting the Amount at 0 will disable the A-Pan effect.

The two phasers are modeled on the famous MXR Phase 90 and the EHX SmallStone, afaik.

EDIT: actually NS2 manual says “The digital models of the phasers in the Stage 2 are inspired by models like the Bi Phase, a classic unit that is heard all over some of the 70s most epic music, and the fierce Small Stone unit .” so I was 50% only correct, however I believe they kept the same in the NS3

Not sure what the references are for Flanger and Chorus instead, while for the Vibe it should be... the UniVibe (what else?) :D

Interesting info from the NS2 manual, @maxpiano. The NS3 manual only offers the following:

The Effects 1 and 2 units provide all essential modulation effects such as Tremolo, Chorus and Phaser, modeled after legendary stomp boxes and effects units. The Delay effect can go anywhere from solidly vintage to modern and atmospheric sounding - with its Analog mode and dedicated feedback filters.

I submitted the info about the non-consistent behavior of the phaser and flanger effects to Nord this afternoon and will share any response I get.

I’d assume the chorus would be the CE-1 and the Dimension D.?

For example- in new update they can offer velocity curves for NS3compact, so we can play pianos on master keyboard with weighted keys...
