NS3 88 with OS 2.0.2: No sound in Mono setup

Postby 1000Keys » 10 Jan 2019, 18:03

Hello,

yesterday at a rehearsal, the guitar player didn't bring his instrument cable and we did not have a spare one (shame on us...), so i lent him one of my 2 cables, which I usually use for stereo connection.
Because of this, I had to connect with only one cable from NS3 out 1 (directly) to the mixer. The mixer's mono channel pan position was set to centre.

Since I had never used the NS3 in a mono setup before, I played around a little with the "MONO OUT" configuration (on/off) from the panel area, just in order to hear the difference.

But from time to time, after switching to another program, even with some factory programs w/o any edits, there came no sound when playing the keyboard. I checked that Auto-Pan FX was off (i.e. not set to L or R). There was also no midi device attached, no special midi settings, and local control was on. Rotor pedal and sustain pedal attached, as well as a swell pedal and control pedal (Yamaha FC7), but with no effect to volume. Switching MONO OUT on/off had no effect as well.
The sound only came back after turning the NS3 off and on again; rotating the master volume and/or section volumes did not help.

This happened several times. I will try to reproduce this tonight at home. Can anybody confirm this behaviour?

NS3 88, OS 2.0.2, all pianos updated to latest versions (as off today), i.e. including enhanced EPs v6.0.

Cheers, Lars

@1000Keys,

I've logged a call with Clavia about the NS3 becoming silent.
This situation is not the same as what I've experienced but if you can reproduce it than pls. let them know !

It might be related somehow.
See this thread for more "silent" problems.

Thanks Richard, I will. Yesterday at home I was not able to reproduce it, though. But the setup was different (other mixer, no rotor pedal attached). I will try again and let you (and Clavia) know if I encounter further strange behavior.

Cheers!
