NS2 Stupid midi question

Postby wcmusician » 24 May 2018, 23:49

Ok, NS2. Currently got an iPad hooked up via USB to send program changes.

Just bought a TC Helicon pedal which I’d like to send midi information (notes) to from the NS2 at the same time as having the iPad hooked up.

How can I do this? The pedal has USB and standard 5pin MIDI in.

I don’t think the NS2 will send midi to both the standard midi port and USB will it? Can I get a ‘USB B Splitter’ cable of some description and split the midi coming in/out via USB, or is there an easier way.

Cheers in advance, sorry for the crap question.

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve with the iPad.

Do you want to send MIDI to the iPad? Is the iPad just sending program change info to cycle your Nord though the correct patches in your set?

I'm pretty sure you can use both 5 pin DIN and USB at the same time for either of the above. It's just a matter of setting the MIDI channel in the MIDI menus creatively.

Easy: use the Extern Section to send the notes to the TC Helicon via DIN while keeping the Global channel on USB for the iPad

External section of the nord.

Right, so my global MIDI is set t USB. Will I need to set the midi output if the external section to DIN?

I’m not being lazy asking this, my gear is in a van and next time Ill see it will be on a gig.

I take it that this means I’ll have to switch on he external MIDI section on for every patch as well.

Thanks for the replies folks. Appreciated.
