Hi
I’m wondering if I can get the KB hold button function exactly as the sustain pedal does.
I’ve put some sample patches together consisting of a looped drone, and then some other one-shot samples. I’m using the patch with the KB Hold button on. I press the drone - all good, off she goes, but then when I press a one shot sample the drone stops. In fact - any time a new sample is pressed it cancels any of the others. Kind of like sustain but monophonic. I thought a workaround might be to press the drone again every time I pressed a one shot sample but this only results in doubling up the drone sample which sounds crazy! It’s a slightly odd thing that I’m guessing comes from it being designed around a synth arpeggiator rather than what I’m trying to do, but when I use the sustain ped instead of KB Hold button everything is sustained properly - triggering one sample does not stop another.
I’m wondering if anyone knows a clever workaround for this? I haven’t found any options for KB hold button operation in the menus. Could I connect a latching pedal and assign sustain to it? Or assign sustain to the mod wheel or something?
My feet are busy doing other things so just holding down the sus pedal isn’t really an option. Plus its kind of dangerous - if i slip a bit then the drones all stop. Disaster!
Thanks in advance

Re: NS 3 KB Hold question
Possible solutions, depending heavily on details that I do not know:
1. Simply take envelope release on the sample synth to maximum.
2. Use one synth engine for the drone alone (with kbd hold) and reserve the other synth engine for one shot samples.
3. A piece of tape or something else to hold down a key.
4. Invert sustain pedal polarity so that notes arw sustained when the pedal is not pressed.
EDIT: typing errors

Re: NS 3 KB Hold question
With a synth keybed like the Virus, my solution was a credit card to latch the key against the underneath of the adjacent keys, switch parts and keep playing.. which of course is a useless option for the NS3 keybeds..
you could invest in the nord triple pedal and use the sostenuto pedal.. that should work

Re: NS 3 KB Hold question
I do not know if that will help you, but I have made something to hold a note for several minutes while still having 2 hands free to play a song. It´s "in the air" by Genesis. There is a low bassnote held all over the first part of the song. I made a clip (U shape) from 2mm wire, padded on both ends with foam rubber. It can be bent and adapted to different keyboards. It just holds the note down. When I am done I can grab it fast and pull it off even while still playing chords with the other hand.

Re: NS 3 KB Hold question
Keith Emerson used knives although maybe it is not a good idea from any point of view.
Maybe a wooden spoon, painted red, of course.
