You don't have a direct connection between Nord and computer, so it's perfectly fine to see the converter cable as controller on your computer. And it would be for that CME, too, if ever you need a driver on your computer: certainly not a Nord driver, as MIDI is purely standard.
The only thing you need to do is setting the channels on both sides to your liking - the easiest on the computer side is "all". Maybe a MIDI monitor program on the computer would help to check out if there is any signal transmitted.

Yes, you probably want to set up and enable the Extern or use the Panel A/B channels (depending if you need also to record NS itself, I recommend the Extern if you only need to use it as a master for DAW/VST), check the MIDI section of the NS EX manual or read this The Nord Stage MIDI Tutoriallamone wrote:thanks for your answer,

Re: NordStage EX as MIDI master keyboard
If for this project you're ONLY using it to play virtual instruments, then you don't need to use External sections... in fact, it's better if you don't, because then you can use ALL the Nord controls to control your VSTs (i.e. the drawbars, the knobs, which you can define/map on the receiving end to do whatever you need them to do).
If you're not getting MIDI to your computer using your MISI-USB adapter, double-check that you haven't mixed up the In and Out MIDI connectors, people do that a lot. You can also use a printer-style USB cable to connect your Mac to the Nord, that will work for MIDI as well.

Nope, Nord Stage EX has no support for USB MIDI, it is only for OS updates and Nord Sound Manager.anotherscott wrote: You can also use a printer-style USB cable to connect your Mac to the Nord, that will work for MIDI as well.

Are you sure? That would mean it's an error on Nord's web site, which says it does have that feature:maxpiano wrote:Nope, Nord Stage EX has no support for USB MIDI, it is only for OS updates and Nord Sound Manager.anotherscott wrote: You can also use a printer-style USB cable to connect your Mac to the Nord, that will work for MIDI as well.
