Hello and thank you for the information!

I was wondering if it is possible, with the MIDI update for NS2 to use the panel controls of a NS2 instrument, let's say the synth section of Panel B, to control an external module? So that the internal instrument on that panel would be 'disengaged' from it's control surfaces so that they can be used to control a MIDI device. I know the Extern Section is really made to do this, though one knob isn't quite enough. While I'm on the subject, I don't quite understand why Clavia would allow for so many physical controls for the internal instruments and designate only a single knob for an external? Anyways, if this could somehow work, it would be a great workaround for controlling something like a computer running Mainstage or some other multitambral instrument.

Thanks in advance for your time and information,
GRod926

hi GRod926.
if you set the MIDI Control Local (in the MIDI menu) to OFF, the internal sound will be left unaffected when turning the knobs. but like a wrote on page 3, you can not reprogram the knobs to send any optional Control Change data. they are fixed.
so you'll need to do the programming on your soft synth to make it respond as intended.

Thanks again for the information!

I started down that path of thinking initially but then got lost =o). Won't that global setting remove direct control from all panels and instruments? The end goal I was hoping for was to have only one panel of a specified instrument have a local off so that I could control a soft synth, while maintaining control of the other instruments and panels with the Nord keyboard and controllers...

Very useful information. I know the Stage pretty well, and use its (underrated) MIDI functions a lot, but this tutorial really helps me to keep everything straight in complicated situations. Can't praise it highly enough!!!

There is no dark side in the moon, really.
Matter of fact, it's all dark.
The only thing that makes it look light is the sun.

Is there a simple way of finding the nord stage and midi tutorial pdf file? I've been going in circles for the past hour trying to find it!

Hi blairbooth and welcome to the forum!

Have you tried this link: The Nord Stage MIDI Tutorial
It should look like this:

And you can download Hendrik's a.k.a. toro-larsson's great tutorial using the "Download" link.

NOTE: You have to be registered (which you obviously are ;-) ) in order to be able to access the download section.

If you still have problems, please let me know! The doanload section was recently updated and there might still be some issues with access rights, but I tried it and it should work! Let me know if otherwise!!
Cheers, Johannes
