ii) If the synth layers simultanously should work as extern controllers and synth/sample layers how do you suggest to toggle between the two operations and use the same panel knobs for both functions without loosing control of your playing? It would be a complex task.
iii) Why not lever the control of of more complex hardware/software rig to the software rig using the global midi channel from the NS4? The global channel can send midi information from all the panel hardware of the NS4.
II) well, just have a completely independent section like on stage 2! I don't need all the controllers for my external channel, I just need to be add up to the rest, since the beginning, they had advertised so much on this one since stage: you have 6 layers of instruments PLUS any External you might want times 2, so, 8 layers in fact...
IIi) Not sure what you mean, so, each panel can trigger notes on/notes off on a different channel than the payer is?
i) It’s strange but it seems to me that these problems have come as a surprise to them. I have my reasons to believe that.
ii) I am not saying that you should toggle between internal synths and external control (although maybe even that could be possible scenario). If you read my text I am saying that it’s waste of multitimbral power that when you choose EXT mode for A and this shuts synth A off. You might wanna give synth A for external MIDI sequencer for example. In fact that is my case exactly

ii) I see your point, but how would you as an example adjust the volume of the synth track and the external controlled equipment without toggling between the two functions? In fact you will end up with a mixture of the panel switching philosophy of the NS3 with the individual layer control of the NS4. It could be difficult ti control when busy playing live.
iii) I was meaning leave the keyboard zoning, midi filtering; use of sustain, aftertouch, mod wheel and handling of the different NS4 control functions to the software rig/host based upon the use of the global channel midi output.
Agree that its a pity you miss the synth function when activating the extern and that Nord could make it possible to use both simultanously, my point is that such an implementation could be difficult to control for the user. Nord has been consistent in their marketing and user manuals telling it is either/or and probably it was not intended that earlier OS version allowed it.
