personally I would've preferred if nord split up the synth into two engines, synth and sampler ( for a total of 8 engines ).
stage 4 perhaps?

I think you'd still want the samples to be able to operate within the synth engine too. So then maybe ideally leave the synth engine as is, and add an additional sample engine which has just the limited set of synth/sample controls that the Electro 5 has. That would be cool. Four engines per slot would conceptually be consistent with the 4 zones, too. Some day maybe...

- the stage finally gets drawbars! I vowed years ago that this would make me immediately buy a new one, and I'm already re-figuring my budget
- seamless transitions between programs
- more piano memory
- more flexible split - the cross fade should be great for combining piano models across the keyboard, for example.
- they've moved the "transpose" button to the top - no more accidentally hitting that during a solo.

but I'm missing the following:
- Where are the status LED rings on the morphable pots? These are essential for seeing what's going on.
- no new layered sample format. No mention of this.
- still only fixed split points, and only three regions.

Actualy there are 4 regions now

Indeed! But with only three engines per slot.

And....how did that conversation go?

I broke the news to my wife the other day that I NEEDED a new STAGE3. I had been rehearsing my speech for days, bought chocolates, took a shower, etc. She told me to wait until Nord issues a coupon. What?? God, I love that woman.

Any pointers to help seal the deal is appreciated.

Going forward, I hope Nord will kindly include "significant other" selling tips with future product releases. My wife doesn't care about MIDI implementations, keybeds or synth filters. Things like "you will be able to do 20% more household chores" or "it will match every pair of your wife's shoes" would be helpful.

Does your wife actually recognize that you switch your current Stage Classic to a new Stage3? - to most "non playing women" they are both red... ;-)

I wish that you could choose to route monitor in to the main outs.
So slick to be able to hook an Ipad without messing with an extra mixer
Nord are you listening?
