Nord stage 3 Synth Level invers with Swell pedal

Postby Keesie » 15 Jun 2022, 09:31

My Synth Level react invers with Swell pedal.
Up = Soft volume.
Down = Loud volume.

How to make it normal like Organ section level ?

Best Regards,
Kees

Please correct me if needed, it sounds like the pedal works fine as a Swell pedal for the organ, but is not working as expected as a Control Pedal for other levels. If that's the case, check the manual on morphing the Level to the Control Pedal. Proper setup would be that you turn the Level to the lowest you want, and then turn the Level to the highest you want while holding the Control Pedal Morph button. The Control Pedal should move between the lowest and highest settings as programmed. If it's a different problem, what is the make and model of the pedal you are using? Does it have a polarity switch? Have you looked around page 55 of the manual on selecting the pedal type? Good luck!

The swell pedal only has two settings... organ swell, or overall volume, and neither can work in reverse. So I'm guessing you mean control pedal, not swell pedal. The function of the control pedal is set by using the morph function... that's the way you could makes it work in "reverse" for a sound (and also the way you would un-do it).

I don't understand what's wrong with your pedal. In my eyes, that's normal behaviour: up = soft, press = louder. That's not inverse, is it?

It’s possible to invert this for a part with a morph setting.

Is morph assigned to the control pedal?

Yes, now its working as I want.
Thanks a lot, myself not enough knowledge of morph function.
Indeed, low level set, high level set wirh Level knob.

Best wishes to you all.

I think "up" and "down" in this context are ambiguous, it could depend how you are thinking about it. Pedal pointing direction (or toe position) "up" (as you're talking about it) can also be seen as "down" if you're instead thinking about the usual expected result... signal level if used as a volume pedal, modulation amount or cutoff frequency if used as a typical mod or filter control pedal (not programmed to work in reverse), MIDI value (0 to 127). It's a difference between the physical position (moving the pedal to point up) and what it's doing (typically changing some parameter downward). So I never know what someone means when they say they have a pedal up or down. ;-) When I play and want to increase volume, am I adjusting the volume pedal up, or am I pushing the pedal down? It could be more clear to use words like increase/decrease, minimum/maximum.
