Nord Stage 3 rev2 vs rev1
Hello all,
On the verge of buying a NS3 for a good deal, my dealer here claims he will receive the REV2 version friday. For the REV1 i wil get a nice discount (200 euros) or the new REV2 for the standard price.
The changes in REV2 according to him are: hardware changes for 'better' audio quality, different button for piano selection and some other minor thing like other buttons.
Can anybody confirm of deny this? I cannot find anything in the net.
Thanks!
Lemon

Re: Nord Stage 3 rev2 vs rev1
I think the official designation is RevA and B, but it hardly makes a difference
I never heard about changes in sound quality. Given that it's a digital instrument, those would depend largely on firmware updates (which you can do by yourself), barring major changes to circuit boards, DACs or something.
The panel updates can be seen comparing the latest version of the manual with the pics on Nord's website, which are still Rev.A versions.
The piano section has an additional "piano type" button and the legends of some buttons have been updated to show the new features, most notably the EP filter settings.
In the synth section, the "arp run" button has been moved and a new "osc config" dial has been added.
Moreover, the Compact now has the music stand brackets on the back, while the hammer action versions can mount the Nord Piano Monitor brackets.
I think that's all, as far as I know.

As already said -- and the RevA/Rev1/earliest_version still plays and operates very nicely

Yep, I got mine in June 2017, and it is a great board! I owned my NS2 from 2011 till 2017 and it never let me down either!baekgaard wrote:As already said -- and the RevA/Rev1/earliest_version still plays and operates very nicely

Re: Nord Stage 3 rev2 vs rev1
I have both ... no difference in sound. Also all functions for which Rev2 has got additional buttons can also be accessed with the Rev1 unit, just some labeling is missing like the Dyno EQs for the EPianos - but this is easy to keep in mind. I would rather go for a nice discount for Rev1 than insisting on getting a Rev2 board

Re: Nord Stage 3 rev2 vs rev1
I opted for an early version S3HA88 (1.2) and got a discount.Sounds fantastic.Once you do your 'homework' you won't miss the new dials and silkscreening.Wish my S3C73 had music stand mounts!Have had the Compact over a year now, time to 'fashion' my own!
Set your ARP buttons to 'zero' time......so when you accidently engage them.....you "Won't Get Fooled Again"...... ;>)

Re: Nord Stage 3 rev2 vs rev1
Mine is being held up as out of stock. I didn't know about the minor revision, but hopefully will receive the new one. I would imagine the type button gets you through the Piano/EP lights and then the other button gets you to the sub types (grand, upright, etc)?

Re: Nord Stage 3 rev2 vs rev1
I am getting the NS3 compact rev B. Had a NS3 88HA before from the first batch and had some trouble with it: slight latency trouble with 2 panels at once, polyphony issues and if used the seamless transition to fast, the whole instrument would freeze. I hope the rev B wil have less issues. Main reason for selling the NS3 88 was the HA keybed. Now i have a Kawai MP7se (about same keybed as the Grand) with is a huge improvement for me. Thanks for all your reply's!
