May I ask you where did you get the (metal?) box from and how did you paint it? :)

Can i change the program Inside a Song, just by using a single footswitch plugin into the control pedal in?

Since this came up as a top answer in search engines, I thought I would add an addendum to this thread in 2020.

I just got the Boss FS-6 footswitch for my Stage 3, and noticed too that it starts out reversed. No problem these days though ... just go to your system menu and switch the MODE to what you need +/- ... or ... -/+ ... they added a mode setting to invert the order now if you want, no need for special cables.

This thread is great, thank you all.

I am wondering if these program change pedals (such as BOSS FS-6 or 7), when plugged into a Nord Stage 3, will send MIDI to a computer? I would like to use them to control changes in Ableton. Thank you!

As far as I remember, no one has tested this already. Or didn't leave a note.

Anotherscott and I differ on what should be expected: post135291.html But none of us gave it a try.

In any case, you might be helped with the extern section - that's meant for stuff like that.

If it doesn't have a MIDI THRU I doubt it will work. Does the Nord Stage 3 have a Soft MIDI THRU maybe?

It does through the Extern section, but I don't see a correlation.

You need to set Extern Soft Thru to on and activate the Extern section for the current program. Then you have a MIDI soft thru on the Extern channel. The incoming data must be either on the Panel A, the Panel B or the Global channel.

I'm sorted now with a simple TRS insert cable (pictured) a few UK pounds from Amazon ;-) With the Tip plug in A and the Ring plug in B it works perferctly

Hi,

Just got my new Stage 3 and found this great forum.
I haven't found anyone doing the following:
I already own an fs-5u pedal which I used to switch program / up on an old Kronos, without any batteries.

-Since the fs-5u pedals can be attached together, could I use two fs-5u pedals and a TRS insert cable to send up and down commands to my Stage 3 WITHOUT the need for batteries ?
Thanks

the FS-5U pedal does not use batteries.

The FS-5L pedal uses a battery to run the LED light, but it doesn’t have anything to do with the actual functionality of the switch.

if you get two pedals and wire the cable between them correctly, yes you can use them as program up/down pedals.
