Nord stage 3 outside gig
Hi my musician friends! I just bough new stage 3 76HP. My first gig will be outside at night. Is there any risk of damage ? Condensation or something. Is there any opinion to avoid it ? F.e. Dust cover on it while don’t playing it or something. Thanks .

Re: Nord stage 3 outside gig
Hi and welcome, congrats for your new board!
All nords are well known for their built quality, they are very sturdy instruments. There are many reports about keyboards that survived from hits or beer baths, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't bother at all.
A dust cover will prevent you from contact cleaning, at least not in short term. Have also in mind that a nord in good condition has a higher resale value if you want to upgrade in the future.

Re: Nord stage 3 outside gig
My compact has 100+ night - day outdoor gigs under the belt already. No issues whatsoever. A few things I do
1.Have a nice case I use nords case the fur inside has kept away any condensation from travel changes in temp etc..
2.Light unit wipedown before putting in case.
3. Prob most important have a can of pressurized air for dust If you play under a dusty condition spray it right after the show.
4. I haven't got the band to get onboard with this one. Shock collars for band members who get to close with their drinks...

Re: Nord stage 3 outside gig
well, hello from Slovakia, I just played outside gig in mountain valley, temperature 30C, moisture 89%, after the sunset when temperature fell rapidly my upper keyboard (not the Stage) was in water bath, all keys were like after the rain+flies and mosquitos on white keys. the lower keyboard was Stage3, hidden under the upper one, still crazy condensation on keys, I felt like in Amazon forest. After every 2songs I needed to wipe it out with soft towel. When it has dried next day, I needed to wipe out little flies with vacuum cleaner. The gig was like riding car on road full of water. Hopefully, all works perfectly. We played about 2 hours. So cover your keys before and after the gig with some soft case which absorb the water.

Re: Nord stage 3 outside gig
Be afraid about people with glasses!!!
Make sure (drunk) people don't come around your instrument with their glass in their hands...
And if the stage is near tables on the dust cover put a sign NOT to put glass on it....
Sometimes people think a keyboard with a dust cover is a table.....and if no keyboard in the world is combatible with a full glass on it , NORD KEYBOARDS are less combatible!!!
To be sure you could put the big plastic bag you have in the package and on it you put a dust cover
Enjoy

Re: Nord stage 3 outside gig
You will get consensation if your instrument is coming from a cool area (like an air-conditioned house) to a warm humid area (like outside in the summer), simply due to the cold temperature of the metal. Beacuse of this, I move my instrument outside in the case and leave it in the case until it has had a chance to come to temperature, so the warmer, humid air does not come into contact with it while it is still cold.

Re: Nord stage 3 outside gig
I play outside regularly. No problems to date. The Nord stays in the furry gig bag prior to the gig, and is stored immediately afterwards once it's wiped down. I've tossed in a few desiccant packs to dry any residual moisture.
The only bad experience I've had was on a beach parking lot where the dancers kicked up a considerable dust storm. Grey Goose was sponsoring and handing out free vodka bottles to anyone who looked 21. Lotsa people falling down by the end. It was a night to remember, for sure.
I blasted the keys with compressed air afterwards, no problems.

I think I have gear issues ....

Good one. I'll toss in some cleaning wipes too next time!

This, and once a year I open up the NS2 (together with the local dealer) and clean everything inside (including the keys).
