The NS3 has the same sound engine as the Electro 5 series as far as I can tell. I have an Electro 5 ( which I am putting up for sale ) - can't hear much of a difference.Jo Osantos1 wrote:Am i the only one, that can not get the Hammond B3 of the Nord Stage 3 sounding good?
I had an Electro 4D, and the Hammond was really good! Now on the Stage, i cant get the same sound :S Help?

Re: Nord Stage 3 - hammond B3 Sound
By any chance, are your Electro 5 and your NS3 both SW actions? I'm interested in finding people who have played both, to characterize any difference in the feelings of the actions for piano playing (possibly by virtue of the presence of the aftertouch strip on the NS3).Gospelkeys wrote:I have an Electro 5 ( which I am putting up for sale

I'm certainly expecting the B3 to sound excellent. I will be very upset if it doesn't.

I expererience the same thing here. I am frustrated and disappointed about the reproduction of the organ in the NS3.
I also meant to update my instrument, and now, on some details (which already were fuctioning on the older instruments) it is quite a downgrade in (organ)sound
I am also an NE4 user and liked the organ very much. On the NS3 am am noticing (so far) the following issues, which I would like very much to be improved/altered/just to have it back :
The overall sound of the NS3 B3 is somehow wooly/squishy/indistinct/softer to me, as a difference to the NE4.
The NE4 had more presence/realism or 'egde/bite' as the organ sound, due to my ears and feel.
The vintage modes are now much weaker! Hardly noticeable.
The percussion section sounds different and weaker to me.
I have no understanding about, why the NS3 organ had to be kind of 'reinvented', because everything was already there and sounded good and realistic. This is a very truely meant question!
Something in the chorus/vibrato section is different, which kills the impression of 'realism' of the NE4.
The NE4 sounded 'old' e.g. with V2 and V3. With the NS3 it sounds indistinct.
I also have the impression that the EQ (which I am still trying to use to 'improve' the organ sound) feels weaker and 'edgeless' compared to the NE4.
Still waiting for the separate organ routing to function as supposed to. But I believ NORD is working on that.
I' d really please NORD to 'just' pack in the NE4 organ completely and as it was.
Again, have no technical clue, why this had to be altered and it feels a bit like invention from scratch.
Please, guys at NORD, fix this.
You've built a great instrument. Don't leave it poorer than it could be, as you've already proven to us musicians with former instruments.
Best regards,
Frank

...and on the ns3, vintage 1 (menu+sound) is not working. You just have leakage or no leakage. Clean=vintage 1
...and on the ns3, click hight get the overall sound more brighter, instead of getting just the click louder.
I would be pleased to show that fixed, and yes the chorus is weak, but instead of bugs this is just opinion. I can’t compared with ne4 or c2d. But if ns3 is written to have the c2d motor, so it does sounds like no ?

In the youtube demos for me C2D sounds realistic, but NS3 is different to that.lordy wrote:But if ns3 is written to have the c2d motor, so it does sounds like no ?
Somebody could make a sound compare with the different types (but with the same settings) and share the audio?

Re: Nord Stage 3 - hammond B3 Sound
I think it's awesome the guys with the NS2/NE4, etc. are doing the comparison on this and can corroborate some of my findings. I don't have any Nord experience to compare to. The NS3C B3 sounds very polite and mild mannered; almost like a church organ. It doesn't have balls. I don't want to have to add effects like overdrive to give it grit.
I do have a Korg Kronos 2 with the CX3 engine and that Hammond sound is a dirty little monster. And I'm not talking about adding overdrive effects, I'm talking basic drawbars with Chorus 3.

Man, i am the person who started this post... And as i mentioned early, i do have the Nord Stage 3 and the Electro 4D, so i can compare this side by side!Obwanz wrote:Yes, I spent over an hour last night trying to get the B3 to Sound at least as good as my former Stage 2EX. I filed a complaint with Nord about the chorus/vibrato. Nothing yet. Please everyone reading this fill a support sheet on this. I thought is was just me thinking that it was in my head about the B3 not sounding good. I was expecting an improvement, not a decrement!!

Re: Nord Stage 3 - hammond B3 Sound
Ok Guys, you made me seriously panicking, I'm really happy with the sound of the B3 in my Stage 2, I noticed a "ballsier" sound with my C2/C2D upgrade but I was far away from thinking that the Stage 3 could be worse on B3 sound...

Re: Nord Stage 3 - hammond B3 Sound
Well, the Stage 3 supposedly has the C2D engine...?
I’ll be programming the Stage 3 to match my Stage 2 over the next few days, maybe I can manage to record a comparison.
