Nord Stage 3 Layering

Postby Jimmy Lange » 08 Sep 2018, 18:11

Hi Friends....thought I might post as two separate questions to reduce post size. Just wanted to know if the NORD STAGE 3 COMPACT has LAYERING capabilities...especially like a GRAND PIANO plus STRINGS layered sound where the strings have soft attack and slow decay independently...natural orchestral sound. Many Thanks, Jimmy

yes.

Nord Stage lets you layer two "panels."

Each panel can consist of up to 4 sounds (3 internal, 1 external) which are themselves split or layered... one organ sound, one piano sound (includes electric pianos, clavinets, etc.)... one sampled or synth sound (where you'd have your strings, with their own envelope settings)... one externally generated sound if you have an external MIDI source connected (sound module, iPad, etc.).

Those panels are nifty!

Also enjoy the zone edit features of the '3'. Having those few extra notes on the edges of a split are the best yet! The split that 'morphs'!

Thanks so much....I have a lot to learn but this sure looks like the keyboard for me. I'm a Hammond guy but don't drag the B-3 / 122 out much anymore. But I really LOVE the physical drawbars...and, of course, the NORD B-3 sounds make it the best clone out there, by quite a lot. Thanks so much...Jimmy

If you are after B3 Hammond try to compare NS3 with NS 2 or 2 EX from my point of ears they are different, i like more NS2 to be honest.
( Percusiion is more focused with nice overtones and relies click and Rotary effect are more realistic )

The “close” setting on the Stage 3 is so much nicer than the Leslie on the Stage 2...

Also, the fact that the Stage 3 has actual drawbars is a huge, huge difference in playability.

Having set the rotor/horn balance to 70/30, I’m very happy with the 3.
