Mono/Stereo sound with Focusrite Solo

Alrighty, so I bought a Stage 3 last week, over the moon with it. Up until now, I've just been using it with headphones on, but today I wanted to record a quick little bit in Ableton.
So, I connected my Focusrite Solo to my Ch1 Out port with a trusty jack cable, connected my headphones to the direct monitor output and turned it on.
It sounds awful. It seems to have something to do with mono and stereo, and I have no clue on how to figure it out.
When I autopanned my piano sound all the way to the right you don't hear anything anymore.
Do I just need a different audio interface with two line ins? Or is there some way to fix this?

Yes, you need to have a stereo interface (i.e. two channels) and feed it both Ch1 and Ch2 outputs.

There are no other options if you're not happy with the mono sound (which most of us wouldn't be either).
