Modulation wheel for synth

Post by agmcisaac »

Hi
How do you assign the wheel for pitch modulation in the synth section? I am a pretty new users to the NS2.
Thanks

You can't do that !!
For the Synth-section you can assign up to three parameters : LEVEL, SHAPE and FREQ !
Pitchbend can be done with the pitch stick, unfortunately only with a fixed -2/+2 semitones-range !

Perhaps he means LFO pitch modulation rather that direct modulation, in which case that should work automatically. But it only works on the synth section, not on the piano or organ sections.

Well, you can actually ;-) ... Kindof...
..Just not in a way that's particularly useful...

Follow this example recipe:

- Init Synth - Slot A only
- Triangle wave
- change type to "DTN" (detune)
- Set SHAPE MOD to 0
- Set the mod wheel to Morph the 'SHAPE' control - morph the full extremes and you get 2 octaves range. Set the SHAPE MOD to MOD ENV: 10 and you get about 4 octaves range.

You can add UNISON to make it sound a little better
Note that this only works on one of the oscillators involved in the sound - you can try using a HPF filter to get rid of most of the other (unmodulated) oscillator as it is a lower freq.

I don't believe this is a solution for the OP, but I'm posting purely in case it is of interest to someone who wants to make 50's Sci-fi sounds ;-)

Clavia could implement an additional mode for the analogue waveforms: single detune where only one oscillator is active and can get detuned by some amount controlled by the Shape pot. That way one could set both synths in the NS2 to any arbitrary interval, different than the piano and organ.
