No it is not that hard, once you know it ;)
But to be fair: I bought the pre-assembled unit, cause I haven`t got any good soldering iron or experience in assembling electronics :)
This code-issue brought me lots of :?: :?: :?: :?: , therefore I decided to put together a shorter and easier description, from my point of view
But as you said, once you understand it, its not that hard. Glad the Text-sketch was already Written and available though :)
Now I just need to to find a way to attach the controller to the NS, so its a bit more steady during performance.
...and maybe change the color to RED
Some Magnet Tape under it (if you don't want to use velcro) should do the job (or at least it can be an easy try to do, you can find it easily online) ;)

About painting... not my area of expertise :D (but probably not so difficult to do, after disassembling the chassis)

I was thinking some small suction-cups, but the tip of Magnet Tape seems like a better solution.
I`ll give it a try. :thanks:

Some spray-paint is quite easy, will consider it but not sure yet if I bother to do it.

I see you use the MIDI over USB connection, menaing that the MIDI-keyboard is powering the drawbar-controller?
The Nord Stage has only a USB-B connection, wich doesn't allow Power over USB.
I therefore have to use the minijack-MIDI connection.

Made a sketch, and had a tinsmith customise a stand for the Drawbar-controller.
Based on a tip from Maxpiano, I attached magnet-tape underneath the controller.
This way its perfectly stable, and can be angled any preferred direction on the stand.
Of course it had to be spray-painted red...

Re: Midi Drawbar controller help

My next mission is to sort out a way to use the MIDI over USB function with my D9U controller-unit.
The USB port on the D9U serve both as a power supply and a MIDI connection.
Hence The Nord Stage has USB type B, it can´t provide power over USB, and therefor I will need something between the D9U and the NS.
I´ve read some forum-threads about people getting their USB input "fried" on their Nord, probably caused by using a powered USB-hub.
Is there any "safe" product/solution for me to achieve what I want?

I think you just have to power the D9U using a dedicated USB power supply (or a computer, if you have one in your setup) and use the TRS/DIN MIDI to connect it to the Nord, forget the Nord USB (as you say it is type B so it is a device as well = it can receive power, not provide it).

PS: that stand is a very nice solution, although it seems that it "hides" a little bit the PB and MW: can you still use them easily or is it actually an issue as it seems? Maybe using a 90-degrees jack for the cable on D9U side (and taping it to the chassis) would help or ultimately you could make an internal modification to move that jack to the back side.

I think moving the jack connection is VERY difficult, due to connections on the circuit board. I was allready thinking on a 90- degrees jack, so it will be my next moove
The stand has a height that allows the usage of pitch-bend withouth problem. Also the mod-wheel is easily accessed.
The only "problem" now is the MIDI-cable, so when I get an angeled jack I can place the cable neater.
