Intro

Taking from the format developed by baekggard for the NS3 (thanks!), this post is to allow users to add any issues/bugs they have identified with the Nord Stage 4 or associated applications. The Google sheet NS4 Issues/Bugs List will allow us to collect and organize information pertaining to bugs, known issues, and "wish list" items. The comments below should be restricted to mention of what you have added to the Google sheet and a link to the related post where your issue/bug is discussed (see Request for Posting below). Related to new features, a separate post has been put together for discussion of the NS4 Wish List for Future OS Updates with the same request for how to post.

Bugs

As a collective effort, the known bugs are listed in the Google Sheet NS4 Issues/Bugs List.

Anyone can enter a bug, but please check first to see if "your" bug is already documented. If so, you may update the description as needed and add your forum nickname to "Reproduced by/Also seen by" column. Avoid deleting information that others have entered unless you're absolute sure that what you put instead is more specific or a better description.

When entering a bug, please be as specific as possible, and for reproducible bugs, please state a clear step by step instruction that leads to the bug, preferably starting from a factory program or preset.

If you're not sure you have a bug, you always have the option of posting your issue for others to comment on to determine if it should be entered in the Google sheet.

I may, as time allows, summarize the status in this thread.

NOTE: Please also report the bugs to Clavia (Nord) at Nord Support and note when it was reported in the Google sheet.

Feature Requests - OS Wish List

Feature requests as future OS updates are documented similarly in the 2nd tab in the NS4 Issues/Bugs List. To keep this post somewhat readable, a separate post has been put together for users to list what they entered in the Google sheet and provide a link to the related discussion at NS4 Wish List for Future OS Updates.

General Complaints

This thread is for documenting bugs with the intent of getting them reported in a way that can be reproduced by Clavia. Hopefully that means they will be faster to resolve.

Let's try to keep complaints about (specific or lack of) answers from Clavia, as well as discussions on how Clavia conduct their business, outside of this thread, and mainly focus on the specifics of bugs/requests as objectively as possible.

To keep this post readable, if you find a problem with the NS4 you think is an issue or potential bug AND you haven't found a related post on the subject or entry in the Google sheet,
a) enter it on the Google sheet NS4 Issues/Bugs List,
b) post your problem separately to the Forum and include the link to your post in the Google sheet, and
c) post a short description of the problem below along with a link to your post.

Nord Sound Manager v7.70 will not convert NSMP files to NSMP4 format for the Stage 4 (works fine for Piano 5), but works for converting NSMP3 files.

NS4 synth vibrato does not work with user-created samples, no matter if they are converted from NSMP3 format to NSMP4 or created in NSMP4 format. Vibrato on Piano 5 works fine.

Seamless Transition
Seamless transition is not working for reverb effect.

Mono output
Routing an instrument for mono output results in it only being heard in one side of headphones as well.

Bug with Sustain and Extern
When the NS4 is paired with a sound module via MIDI and the NS4 is used as a master, sustained notes hang after the pedal is released. However, the hanging notes do release when the key is pressed down to just above its trigger point (where "key on" is sent to the sound module).

Mono Mode - Effects Not in Mono
When Mono mode is selected, the left or right side of the A-Pan effect (and possibly others) is heard rather than the effect being in mono

Issue: No Song Mode
Song Mode has been added to the NS4 OS Wish List

Issue: Nord NSMP4 Library Incomplete
NS4 owners unable to transition smoothly from prior Nord keyboards due to the NSMP4 Library having a fraction of the NSMP and NSMP3 samples relied upon.

I have found a couple of problems with OS .98 in addition to the ones already noted.

1 ) The medium Bambino med sample included ( 6.0 version which is not yet available in the piano libary ) has an issue with the top E and F keys ( this is on a compact ). At certin velocities you only hear a clicking sound. Apprarenty some velocity layers missing?

2) Synth extern section. The program change will only be sent if scene is the active one when you switch to the program.. If the synth layer is not on the active scene the program change is never sent, even when you switch to that scene.

External is not capable of turning off its keyboard zone yet apparently and an External is also not able to send program changes if the External Midi Out and Aux KB midi IN channel are the same.

Midi control reception problems. If used with an external midi keyboard, through the ext KB function, it does not receive the midi controls of pitch bend, modulation wheel, aftertouch, resonance, cutoff, etc... moreover, the midi volume control acts on all the layers of the section synth, instead of acting in the single layer that uses the ext KB mode, this problem also occurs in the piano and organ section. moreover, using the ext KB function of the organ section, it is possible to control and receive from the external midi keyboard all the various controls (drawbar, on/off vib/chorus, on/off percussion, rotary fast/slow, drive, etc... ) only with layer B, with layer A, only a few midi controls work (fast/slow rotary and only 1 drawbar).

Thanks for posting your discussion HERE on the medium Bambino med sample and conditions where program changes aren't sent with synth extern.

Am i the only only one missing the B3 Rotory balance between the Bass and Horn? I can't find this configuration..
