The sample editor currently doesn't support the NS3. You can still do all the normal sample editor functions, just not transfer the sample to the NS3.

You have to use the sound manager to transfer the sample to the NS3. The dialog will pop up telling you that the NS3 requires a new sample format and ask if you want to convert the file. Just hit yes and it will then convert and transfer.

Thanks for information!
I know to convert the samples, but I thouht there´s also an easier way, when I create new samples while my NS3 is connected.
So I hope they will update it anytime ;-)

Hey guys,

I discovered two bugs:

It seems that custom looped samples are not released in conjunction with the sustain pedal. When you press a key, then press the sustain pedal and let go of the key the sample keeps looping correctly. Then you press the same key again so that the loop is triggered twice. When you let go of the sustain pedal now, the initial sample should be released - this seems not to be the case for me. If I let go of the key and the sustain pedal all samples stop playing, but as long as I keep a key pressed all previously triggered samples overlay each other.

I already added this one to the bug list.

THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN FIXED, I MESSED UP STUFF CUTTING MY LOOPS. Just keeping it here for completeness...

There's another issue I found, this might as well be my own mistake so if someone wants to comment on this you're welcome:

I want to trigger a drumloop from the NS3 and have it playing in the background. I prepared the loop in Cubase, if I loop it here it's perfect. Now I load the sample in the sample editor, set the loop start to 0 and the loop length to the sample length (I checked the milliseconds with the values in Cubase, they're correct), however I still get timing glitches in the sample playback on the NS3. For testing purposes I set the fade time to 0 but still it doesn't fit...

Is this a bug or are there any other parameters that influence the loop length?

That is how it works in the NS2 as well. I do not think this is a bug. All the-same notes that you keep pressing add up while the pedal is down.
How does the synth know which one is the one you are intending to release if they all respond to "note off" from the same key?

For your other problem, maybe you need to post an example with the project file so people can try and reproduce it.

Thanks for the response Mr_-G... well of course they are meant to add up as long as you keep the sustain pedal pressed, but to my understanding when you release the sustain pedal it should release all previous notes except the last one which you still hold (if you keep a key pressed). The synth should be able to tell the apart since you already released the previous notes when you released the key (except that the sustain pedal prevented them from actually being released).

I'm gonna try to back this up by testing it on another synth, since now you got me thinking :)

To give you some context of what I was doing: I had a continuous loop as a sample which I need to retrigger now and then to make sure it's still in time with our drummer. To keep the transition smooth I pressed the sustain pedal, released the key while the sustain pedal kept the sample going, the re-triggered the sample by pressing the key and then released the sustain pedal to make the previous sample stop.

As for my other problem I found the mistake, I was just me getting messed up when cutting the loops... :)

Its easier than the initial solution which was to convert the sample using the Sample Converter App, since that now happens semi-autmacally in the Sound Manager App, but Nord still should fix the sample editor to directly support the NS3.

Keep in mind you can have the sample editor and the sound manager open at the same time so its still pretty fast to manage editing and loading samples.

Hi, all. How do I submit feature requests for the NS3?

You use the contact form on the nordkeyboards.com website.

If you like, check the bug sheet linked in the first poste - Sheet 2 is the feature requests — to see if it’s already been submitted by somebody (not all requests entered in the list seem to have been submitted).

If it’s not on the list and you’ve submitted it, please enter it for all our benefit.

You mean, you get a spike in the supplied (power) voltage and then the ns3 looses sound intermittently? I think all electronic keyboards can do that, in various ways and depths. If you have such problems, you may need a power conditioner device of some kind. There is always the risk of frying your boards if you have very unstable power (this goes for any electronic device), if it's bad enough.
