Keyboard stand for Nord Stage 3 Compact

Postby Lukasz_K » 07 Nov 2019, 13:56

Hi everyone,

What keyboard stand do you recommend for Nord Stage 3 Compact? Now I am using double x stand but it is uncomfortable for my knees because of the smaller width of the Nord (30 cm) than my previuos synth and in result Nord goes to the middle of the stand.

Regards,
Lukasz

I picked up this one a few months ago and have no real complaints. Plus it looks nice on stage.

I also use a stay stand best stand i have ever owned.

The Tower version has arm that can be ordered that contains a mic holder. The slim version does not.

Thanks for your proposals. I prefer sitting position so K&M table style stand will we probably the best. It will also resolve the problem with little space for fotswitches. I found also https://www.k-m.de/en/products/keyboard ... lack?c=171
Which will be more stable?

If you want to be as light as possible, consider the K&M 18880. It can be used standing or sitting. You don't need to use the cross brace so you can set the width to whatever you prefer. Quick, 10-second setup and teardown. The only issue I see is that you need tools to adjust height, but I set the height where I wanted it the first time I used it, and haven't needed to change since.

Here's a link to a thread on the 18880:

The other two are heavier and will provide more stability (but may not be needed for a compact). Your personal preference, playing style, and whether this is for home use or gigging/travel may be more important.

Hi, everything's correct that ajstan says. I have the K&M 18880 which really is very light. You can play sitting or standing. The cross brace mentioned by ajstan as I see it is helpful for stability, no matter if playing sitting or standing. But if you are able to drill extra holes in it, you can easily adjust the width to your needs. I did it.

I also have a K&M 18950 which is the same principle as 18953, just a little bit more depth. Very stable on stage. If I would play only sitting and if transportation would not be a big issue I would go with this stand (18953 in your case). Otherwise 18880.

Just to cover other models: I had a type of X-Stand and I also played sometimes a type of Spider/Ultimate-Stand. Both not as stable as the two K&Ms and - as you have also found out - less space for pedals etc. Furthermore, when played sitting, not very beautiful.

I'm curious what you'll end with.

the big disadvantage with any x-stand: swinging left and right the heavier your instrument is. so km 18810 was my choice.

You can minimise that a bit if you put a belt across the two bars that contact with the kbd and set it tight (that also prevents the typical disaster of the x stand: opening completely when you do not want it).
