I popped by a local music store the other night and they happened to have a Nord Stage EX88 in store so I had a quick play of a few notes. The sales guy was friendly and attentive, but it was fairly obvious that keyboards were not his thing and he was happy to admit it - actually, I admire his honesty.

Anyway, I was impressed with the action as it was not in the least bit spongey which is something I dislike and felt more like a Piano than my Korg SV1 does. So with any concerns about the action out of the way - assuming the NS2 is going to have the same or better action, I was trying to work out how the keyboard split function works.

Is it possible to have user-selectable splits? To clarify, I often play "electric bass" with my left hand while playing piano in the right, however my split point for the "bass" tone is D3 thereabouts. I have seen that it's possible to split the keyboard in 2 and in 3 parts, but is it possible to simply split the keyboard where I choose? I can do this with my Roland RD700SX and at present I'm tossing up between the NS2, RD700NX, or maybe keeping my old trading in my Korg SV1 for the Nord Piano. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hi Siriosys.

the Nord Stage has 9 fixed split points. those are represented by green LEDs on the front panel. you can not choose any other arbitrary split point key. same goes for the new Nord Stage 2.
