Hi All
Not sure if this is a bug or not. Found a strange problem with sustain pedal in dual kb mode. I am using OS 2.0.
I am using a simple setup - NS3 compact with triple pedal and FC7 plugged in the NS3,
External keyboard ( Studiologic SL73 Studio ) plugged into the midi in on channel 16.
Turn on Dual KB mode. Select Piano, Organ or Synth - sustain pedal works fine. Select "panel" and the sustain pedal is now ignored for anything on panel B. The sustped light is on.
Seems that in "panel" mode the sustain pedal ( that is plugged into the NS3 ) is ignored for panel B. Has anyone else seen that? Seem like a bug to me.

Re: Issue with Dual Keyboard mode
Hi, that sounds like the correct behavior to me, in Dual KB mode the selected Section/Panel is logically disconnected from the NS3 and responds only to external Midi data received on Dual KB channel. Same as it is/was on the NS2.
So, if the whole Panel B is assigned to Dual KB, then the panel will "listen" for Sustain (MIDI CC #64) from the external keyboard only.
If you want the NS3 Sustain to control the Panel B while you play it from an external keyboard, then you should not use the Dual KB mode but just assign a specific MIDI Channel to it (different from the one you use in Dual KB), leave the panel unselected i.e. keep Panel A active (so that Panel B won't be played by NS3 keyboard) and have the external keyboard transmit to Panel B channel.

In the recent updates they fixed the problem where sustain pedal / expression pedal was ignored in dual kb mode. If you hold down shift / dual kb mode you can select: piano / organ / synth / panel as options. If you select piano / organ / synth the sustain pedal works ( if you have the sustped option selected ). But for "panel" it is not. I am going to report it as a bug and see what they say.........

Re: Issue with Dual Keyboard mode
OK, I still think that when applying Dual KB to the whole Panel the exclusion of local controls is "by design", as it was on NS2, let's see what they'll reply to you

Re: Issue with Dual Keyboard mode
So how would you than control panel B only from external keyboard and keep pedals and all other functions to work ?

Re: Issue with Dual Keyboard mode
By having all those pedals and other functions apply only to Panel A and attaching the pedals and controls you wish to control the Panel B via Dual KB mode, to the keyboard you are using for control.
If I understand correctly.

Hi, isn't that just the way it was designed? I use that as well, and found out the plugging a sustain pedal in the external keyboard (so the one connected to the B section) does the job, and makes sense, because you do not want to play a piano on board A with sustain, and let that same sustain pedal trigger the organ on pedal B (althoug, you could turn sustain option off on that specific organ).

I'd just save time by understanding that it's by design. Plug a second sustain pedal into your second keyboard.
