Getting syncopation with the arp on the NS3?
I am currently building a synth patch with two layered synth sounds doing slightly different things with an arp on both. It's for a song our band is writing which I started building on my previous keyboard but now have to change. Obviously, they are working in time with each other, but to make it more interesting it would be good to get some syncopation on one of the synth sounds. So far, I can't seem to find a way of doing it, without, for example, having one arp doing triplets, or by using the delay time creatively. Is there any simpler or more obvious way of doing it that I am missing? I am aware of the various up/down/random, and different octave settings. The random gives some accidental moments of syncopation in some ways, but not really what I am looking for.

Not simpler, but using the LFO on one can create a rhythm within the rhythm.

Yes - thank you. I did start to consider this but will experiment a bit more... my hesitation is that this then makes further tweaking of that particular synth line a bit more limited and the particular pulse created by the LFO will still be regular I guess.

Definitely worth playing around with. For example, a 1/1T or 1/2T setting on the LFO rate with a pulse affecting OSC2 yields some interesting patterns against a straight 1/8 setting on the Arp rate. A few affect the tuning, so you'd have to check to see if playing alternate notes would work. Good luck.

Delay is another tool you can use to create interesting syncopation. I like delay for this because you can also get some dynamic variation in an arp pattern. I normally use a DAW for this, but I like using a stereo delay with different rates on each channel, say 3/16 and 5/16 - depends on the groove. Maybe you could achieve similar by layering panels.
