Extended Warranty?
Tomorrow is the last day that I can buy an extended warranty from the dealer where I bought my Stage 3 88 last month. Normally I dismiss such warranties, but this is a super expensive keyboard, and it's not just going to sit in a studio. While I don't do much playing out, I will bring it places from time to time. And it's big and heavy, so subject to possibly being banged around. Yes I have it in a decent case, but it still seems like I might want to get some insurance on it. I could pay $699 for 3 years with accidental damage coverage. ($999 for 5 years but I won't consider that.) Three years peace of mind for $700 seems reasonable and just barely worth it. But if Nords have a history of reliability then maybe it's better to chance it and have to pay that $700 in a repair down the road. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

I would skip the Extended Warranty and purchase insurance instead:
https://www.musicproinsurance.com/
Much less expensive, and for that same price you can also insure some of your other gear. I have $18K full replacement coverage for a little over $200 per year.

As a local small dealer and resell in my country i must tell you that the only problems you are going to have in future with your stage 3 after a normal and carefully use is the keybed click or dust in contacts.. nothing else.. only in case of power problems in the gigs.. if power cut off and then back on and might make some power supply problem to your instrument.. which is something normal that could happen to any instrument.. nords in future the only physical problems are shown usually is on keybed only which are normal issues which can happen to any brand.. dust or clicking keys.. so in case you wana have warranty on that you might calculate how much it costs to a local technician to open your instrument change or clean contacts and close again the instrument.. and calculate that this might happen 1 - 2 times or never in the next 3 years…. For me sometimes i buy for my self from thomann instead of buying directly from clavia.. because thomann gives 1 more year warranty and it has free shipping always during warranty.. which means if i buy directly from clavia distributor i must pay shipping costs from my town to the distributors town.. and again costs to come back from distributor to my town.. from thomann i get +1 year warranty (3 in total ) and all shipping costs for what ever will happen free…..
If it was for me i wouldnt pay 700 for 3 years warranty.. i would preffer to try and open it my self and try fix it my self if the clavias warranty end…. After all i would prefer save this money and use them to upgrade later the stage 3 to the next instrument in future.. for examble
In the time of 3 years it will be a new stage 3ex or 4 etc.. selling your stage 3 and add the 700 for that warranty will buy you the next instrument…
700 is like 20 per month… i would never pay this money for warranty.. but thats me my friend this is the way i look things

I agree, I had a NS2 from 2011 to 2017, and NS3 from 2017 to the present. 11 years and a couple of hundred gigs later, the only issue I had was an encoder that failed on the NS2 after 5 years. It cost $130 to have it replaced at a Nord Authorized Service Center.

Re: Extended Warranty?
Thank you, very useful information. About the Key click, I was hitting a A# pretty hard with my left hand thumb and it was making a much louder sound than the others--a sound I would call a click. Is this normal? It seems to have subsided as of last night. I still have 15 days to bring back to the store. Should I demand another one?

Nord keybeds are known for being kind of noisy. I'd say bring it up to the dealer as a concern do you've established the issue and then see what they say. My S3 76key I have couple keys that got noisy for awhile and have seem to quieted down. Could just be part of breaking it in.
