Whovever created, for example, A:12 that you mentioned, used the M Tuba factory Synth Preset as the basis for their sound, modified it in some way and then saved the Program it was used in but did NOT save the Synth Preset.
This is a common way of using Synth Presets. I have a Synth Preset called 'Soft Pad' that I use in several different Programs but because I usually modify the Synth a bit but don't save it as a seperate Synth Preset (cos it's usually only a minor adjustment), I have that 'E' for each program that uses the modified Synth Preset.
As Baekgaard said, "all is well, just play :)"

Hello, I'm a new NS3 owner.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I've a question that I couldn't find an answer to, and I was wondering if anyone of you knew anything about it.
I've noticed too the appearance of the "E" letter next to the name of a synth/sample preset, and I've understood that it's nothing to worry about, but, in my case, the "E" appears and disappears in a seemingly random way when scrolling back and forth between the programs. The same program sometimes has the "E", sometimes it doesn't.
Here is a video about it (you can see it in the C33 program): https://www.dropbox.com/s/n3ozdduz21umsdo/preset%20E.mp4?dl=0

I did some research, and I've noticed, for example, that the C33 program should have "E" displayed by default:

This problem doesn't seem to have any practical consequences, but I'd be curious to understand why it happens. Is it a bug? Does the same thing happen to any of you?

Currently, my NS3 is being serviced for much more serious issues (some parameters of the synth section suddenly change value by themselves, without anyone touching them). I was wondering if this may be a related issue or not. I'd be curious to read your opinions/experiences about it. Thank you :)

The "E" means that the program has been "E"dited. This can be as simple as pressing the pedal and thus switching Leslie speed or having touched the mod wheel or any knob.

Since you apparently have dirt in several knobs or switches that is causing them to randomly change values, this of course means that you are in effect editing every program, causing the "E" to display.

Thanks for your replies :)

Ok, so it's a minor bug. It was important to identify it because, as I said, the NS3 is being repaired due to some parameters of the synth section changing value by themselves (I doubt it's because of dirty switches, the Nord is brand new. They are probably faulty for some other reasons). I also reported the "E" bug to the technician, thinking of some further hardware malfunction, but apparently I was wrong ;)

That's right, we just have to wait, although I believe that at this point they will never fix it. However, it is good to know that this is simply a small and harmless bug, rather than something more serious.

Grazie ancora, tanti saluti
