Boss FS-7 Prog up/dn pedal troubleshoot
on way to repair to determine why the input jack for Program Up/Dn Pedal does not seem to work on my board. Have done fair amount of research and troubleshooting alongside Marc from MyKeysToMusic and tried two brand new Roland/Boss FS-7 pedals, new TRS cables, new power supply and same malfunction.
have videos documenting tests and numerous emails to contact Nord and American Music & Sound, to finally be enroute to local (still 45 min ride) repair guys. AMS states willingness to contact Nord since just out of warranty and we hope it’s something simple. And time sensitive- i haven’t attempted to use the jack prior to this, so wouldn’t have known if it was faulty. AMS says they haven’t heard if this before (so i’m one-in-a-million?)
i will include more specifics once it’s diagnosed. am pretty busy getting this addressed as one can imagine. wish me luck.

Re: Boss FS-7 Prog up/dn pedal troubleshoot
Hi MEL868, just for curiosity: how was the FS7 mode switch (the one on its side)set? I mean did you ensure it was set as momentary (which is the correct one)?
About the Program Pedal "type" setting in the system menu, did you leave it Auto or forced also to Open or Closed?
Did you also try with a single pedal (non FS7, just a normal momentary switch like a sustain pedal, the Program up/down port can also work with it, though only in one direction of course), to exclude it is a jack malfunction??

Re: Boss FS-7 Prog up/dn pedal troubleshoot
I did everything possible checking parameters and sharing troubleshooting videos with Marc from MyKeysToMusic. It's in Nord's hands right now, was referred to an authorized repair and diagnosed it is, in fact, my keyboard; needs a new motherboard. After numerous research and tons of email communications to try to explain what 'no one has seen before' - it's all been very stressful, and I have an event next week. I will be able to pick up my keys tomorrow morning to use for the event and dry run before it; so while I am busy picking up the pieces, after this event, the repair will be scheduled. Forgive me if I don't find time between now and next Thursday to check my posts. Promise I will update. THANKS

does your technician already know for sure that the motherboard needs to be replaced? I today for the second time made the experience that not all jacks are good enough for the nord‘s sockets. My left line out refused to work, I switched cables, I solely checked left and right channel, and only after I changed my cables to the better ones it worked without any problem. I think that some no name plugs are slightly thinner than the premium branded ones. If I use Cordial or Klotz (european brands) everything is alright. I would be glad if this opened a chance for you.
Anyway, good luck with your gig, have fun.
Cheers from Germany

Re: Boss FS-7 Prog up/dn pedal troubleshoot
thanks, i have the board now in my possession need for a gig this week. still waiting to hear if Nord steps up to cover via warranty. i hope to get going on a resolve right after my gig. Last week at repair facility, the first thing the owner did was put a meter on the TRS cables to check signal? he worked with his Nord contact, and apparently ruled that the motherboard needs to be replaced. i will find out more info and post…thanks.
ps over the course of this there are a couple of other issues which come to mind and may also be related to the malfunction.

Re: Boss FS-7 Prog up/dn pedal troubleshoot
The gig is done! The Nord (and I) presented just fine! In fact, I was approached with compliments...'who is that keyboardist?'...my NS3 did me justice. However, I still await to hear from Nord about my pending repair. I am exhausted with documenting this and communicating to Nord and Sweetwater. Let's hope we get some action soon...I have some down time, but let's face it, no one wants to be alone for long!!! Please help me, NORD and SWEETWATER! Let's get my board fixed!!!
The showcase band was a hit, and the band I represented got a gig before I even returned to the booth. While I was being carried out, I was stopped by a booth for a referral. Set list for showcase:
