Re: Band/PA setup
Exactly. The soundman may hear something wrong in your levels but can never know wich line to tweak, untill he finds out it could take some time. Having a small mixer gives you better control over your relative levels. Mind not to set all chanels to maximum, leaving some headroom for you to raise the volume if needed.

KoosJansen wrote:Thanks for the quick reply! One of the reasons I'd be using different outputs for the piano and organ is the huge difference in volume. The piano is so much louder. I could manage this in the presets I suppose. However, if this difference can be managed by our soundengineer I wouldn't have to worry about it.
For each Nord I've owned, the Piano has always had a lower setting than the B3 in my programs as the B3 is typically using a lower setting such as 888000000, and rarely 888888888. To remain consistent across programs, my max Piano setting is -2db as the norm even for piano-only songs. I agree with the comments in support of getting your own small mixer and addressing the balance in your programs as much as possible. Good luck to you.

Re: Band/PA setup
Normski nailed the answer. You don't need to add an additional mixer with all the cables etc. unless you are using multiple keyboards, or want to route only some sounds to a Leslie or Bass amp.
Just edit and save the volumes of your programs to even them out between them. Send everything through your first two outputs.
On a separate but related note:
I use a Stereo Direct box...
https://mackie.com/en/products/audio-to ... DB_2P.html
It allows me to use the thru's to monitor my sound in stereo, with my own amps, while giving the sound person a couple XLR outputs.
I very occasionally add a Radial Mix 2:1, when the sound person, is running mono, but I still want to monitor in stereo with the Mackie.
The Palmer Pan 04A, claims to maintain Stereo on the Thru outputs when switched from stereo to mono output mode. It is a rare Direct box that can do all of this in one direct box. It's active and doesn't ship with a power adapter.

Re: Band/PA setup
If you just use a handful of patches then copy them to a spare location and then adjust the volumes relative to the others and save in each patch. That way when you switch between patches you will have the right volumes and just use outputs 1&2.
I personally set up a dedicated patch for each track we do, and have them saved in the set order, so I just click it up one at the end of each song. That way every track is pre balanced in relation to the other patches and the rest of the band so requires very little mixer work once the sound check has ben done and levels agreed.

docbop wrote:I would go with a small mixer that all your keyboard/multiple outs can go into and you can balance your keyboard relative to each other yourself.
That doesn't solve the problem of the uneven volume balances of sounds within a program.
