Hi all, I am new to this forum so many apologies if I am repeating a question someone has already answered but I couldn't find anything so far.

I have a Stage EX (88 note) which I have been playing live for a number of years and love! I wanted to download a couple of mellotron and pump organ sounds but these only seem compatible with Stage 2 EX. Am I missing something? The OS is 6.04 but when I tried updating it, the update didn't seem to be live. Is my piano just old and no longer supported? Any help greatly appreciated!

The capability of Nord instruments has evolved over time. Playing samples through the synth engine is part of it.

Original Stages never supported the Nord Sample Library as the synth engine only features Subtractive, FM and Wavetable. I wouldn't call this 'no longer supported' - it's just part of the specifications of your instrument. And yes, your Stage EX isn't young any more in terms of digital instruments. Clavia will have their 40th anniversary this year, synths started in 1995 and your Stage EX came in 2008.

EDIT: Your firmware update should be supported. The latest is from 2018, so it should work (at least if you don't have the newest computer).

Is it possible to update the synth engine in the way you can update the capabilities of a computer?

Hi,

probably there was not so much calculating power unused originally in order to be able to implement totally new features. And you wouldn't have the buttons/knobs on your panel you'd need. Already the Stage 3 owners dream of an upgrade to Sample Library 4 - but I'm not that sure it will happen.
