Looking for that very unusual but funky Honer Clavinet sound used in Bill Withers song “Use Me”. https://youtu.be/NuYDKzky4z0

Re: Use Me- Bill Withers
Just sounds to me like the attack is slightly rounded off by a slowly opening gate. Otherwise like normal clav. To me it mainly sounds weak as apposed to a sharper percussive attack.

It's just played in octaves and softly. It's a standard Clavinet, no effects.

(It's only "unusual" in the sense that hardly anybody records a plain-jane Clavinet with no effects or distortion, and the damper completely raised.)

Re: Use Me- Bill Withers
It is a pretty standard clav sound, which in this day where a lot of the rompler workstations have these hyped up monster clav sounds, could seem a little basic. Though most Nords can do a basic clav sound just fine and playing it in octaves will match the recording pretty well. I don't have a NS3 set up right now to see about a filter recommendation, though you can figure that out with a little bit of trial and error.
I used to play this song with a wedding band over a decade ago. I would switch between a standard clav and an auto-wah effect on the clav just for fun. I would also play a big grinding organ solo at one part. You can make the song your own as you see fit.

Re: Use Me- Bill Withers
Here is the program I use for this song. It's split so I can play the bass with my left hand.
Good luck!
Good luck!
