Nord 2008 Rhodes for NS3

Postby Lumserei » 02 Dec 2020, 19:27

I'm urgently looking for the Rhodes Mark Sound samples from Electro 2 around 2008 for the NS3.
I'm currently using the NS3 and would like to have a Rhodes that really asserts itself in the band context, the NS3's Rhodes all have an individually exaggerated character that always stands out loud and doesn't assert itself. The 3 band EQ built into the NS3 is much too coarse for me to get a grip on the subtleties. With an external 8 band parametric EQ you can get close but the Rhodes from 2008 is still unmatched.
The Rhodes from 2008 lacks a little authenticity, but it holds its own in the band structure without EQ very well without exaggerated colouring.

Hello Lumserei,
I don‘t know the NE2 Rhodes‘ from 2008, but have you had a look at the oldest nord samples on their website? These e-pianos are from 2010:
https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... -keyboards
and when I should guess whether a manufacturer wants to make one job twice or only once, perhaps these Rhodes‘ here come from the same base file as those in a 2008 NE2. Worth a try, isn’t it? Unless somebody else knows better. Would be glad if it helps. Best regards from the middle of Germany

Maybe you are looking for the older 4.x versions, which afaik are no longer available (unless someone saved them and can share with you), however if you look at the bottom of the current pages there is the "older" 5.x version in S format, that maybe you like better than 6.x?

See for example https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... lose-ideal page, download the S version 5.3 and try it.

I found a few 2008 files that came with my old Stage EX. There isn't a version number on them so maybe version 1? They are "E.Piano Deep Mk I.nsp", "E.Piano Ideal Mk V close.nsp", and "E.Piano Shallow Mk II close.nsp". Each is a little over 4 MB in size and I put them out on the Nord User Sounds site. I hope this helps, take care.

Hello Tasten-Bert, the NE2 had it in the piano library and i found it in the 5.3 sample so the way about searching on the official Nord library was a goot tip. Best regards from the south of G.

Hello maxpiano, first of all many 1000 thanks for the tip, I thought 5.3 was just a worse version of the same sample. But this is a much more homogeneous instrument where all components seem to come from the same source and stay homogeneous even with EQ or amp sim.
The enhanced sample, on the other hand, feels like it comes from different sources and does not blend into a homogeneous instrument even with excessive EQ.
The 5.3 sample even sounds even more realistic from the transient phase than the one from back then (4.x).
The only thing wrong with the 5.3 sample is that the velocity reacts too sensitive in the NS3 (comp 73).
