I hope all of you are doing well. I've posted quite a few programs and from time to time I'll be asked what piano I used when someone's downloaded a program and a piano wasn't found. On future posts I'll note that information or reference this post. When I first got my Stage 3, I replaced all the XL pianos with smaller versions and then added others to have a wider selection available to me. In a live band setting the additional quality of the fully-mapped keyboard of the XL is lost, so I opted for quantity and variety. Most piano samples I use are Large, however for a few pianos I rarely use, I went a little smaller rather than get rid of them. Attached is the current list for my Piano section with 45 available Grands, Uprights, EPianos and others, along with the list of programs I have posted with the related pianos/samples. I hope some of you find it helpful. Take care.

Re: My Pianos and Program List
My question:
replacing a piano type with a smaller or bigger version, programs that use that piano are kept (keep the pointer to that piano) or loose the pointer?

If you do the replacement via Nord Sound Manager using the "Substitute" function (of NSM Piano tab) all pointers are automatically updated (see NSM manual SUBSTITUTE paragraph)

Re: My Pianos and Program List
Hello, first at all, thanks for the huge work that you do for the community. I started a few years back with your programs, so I am glad to highlight a big
Secondly, I would like you to elaborate a little bit more about that:
Why do you think that the XL advantages are lost in a live band situation? I recently did the oposite: kept 4 XL grands, 4 XL uprights and the some bread and butter.
Thanks in advance
Neo

You're welcome, I appreciate the thanks for my work. To your question, in my opinion the XL is excellent for recording and instances where the piano is the central or only instrument in a live performance, but in a band environment where many consider themselves fortunate that the person in front got the mix right, I think the nuances of having a fully-mapped keyboard are lost. Similarly, if I was in the audience with a band playing, really wouldn't be able to determine if the keyboard player was using a Large sample with full-range string resonance or a Medium sample with string resonance in the middle only. With the XL we're using valuable sample memory for a fully-mapped 88 key sample when we might be playing a 73 or 76 key Nord to start with. If you think about what you play, you might use the outer regions of your keyboard for different parts, but how often for the outer low or high notes of an 88-key piano? There's no right or wrong approach. I opted to have a wider range of pianos immediately available to me, and even though I've found that I have my "favorites" and rarely if ever use a few others, I haven't been driven yet to remove some to install the XL versions again. The Nord site provides more information on the differences at https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... nformation. Thanks, take care.

Thanks. It is clear to me. I checked the official Nord explanation about the differences between XL and other versions sometime ago, but at the time I could not understand the difference between 'full mapped keyboard' of White XL weights 245 mb for 88 keys vs. White Large is 155mb for 73/76 keys. Now I understand that in the Large versions, you have a multisample every 3 semitones (or so) to justify that huge size difference.
Anyway, thanks for your time and neverending support
Cheers

You're welcome! You covered an important point, with the Large you are losing the fully-mapped keyboard for all keys, however as you noted the interpolation between the sampled notes allows for a big difference in Sample size. Take care
