Matt Johnson (Jamiroquai) published a lot of videos during corona times. I learned one or another thing from that and enjoyed his playing. Thereby, I stumbled over a Moog One sound type I've been searching for for quite a while - here it is: https://youtu.be/eQeWIWnkNOU?t=327.
It sounds like something between a vibraphone, an EP and a toy piano to me, reminding me of a cheap electrical organ, too. I'd want to play it instead of a simple B3 sound. Unfortunately, I totally lack experience in 'classical' synth sounds. Does anyone get a starting point in mind to replicated that genre of sound (doesn't need to be exactly this)? I have no clue. May be a sample or a synth preset for NS3.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Moog One sound
Ah, nice sound... it seems a mixture of a clang (could be emulated with the FM oscillator perhaps) and a filtered pad?

Re: Moog One sound?
There are two elements.
One is the bell attack, which requires audio-frequency pitch modulation. As Mr_-G- writes, your best bet for approximating this is using the FM oscillator, because the regular LFO doesn't go that far up.
Then there's a detuned pad with some noise and a filter with hard attack and no sustain, just piano-like decay. And a fast LFO modulating the filter, giving it that rough edge.
Hard to tell from a fast listen on laptop speakers, but it's possible it's the same LFO applied to the pad's oscillator pitches giving them that detuned effect.
This is the kind of stuff the Memorymoog is exceptionally good for, except that's not as precise-sounding and more "woah", like all things Memorymoog.

I'm not sure you'll get very close with a Stage 3, as (seems to me like) the original program involves sloppy tuning as a defining character. Sure you can approximate it to some extent, but I don't think you'll get very close.

Re: Moog One sound?
My sound shaping skills are not much developed. The synth on my NS3 has only been used to add some spice to my piano and organ sounds so far. For example, I haven't used the FM presets yet. So this is definitely a challenge to me. I'll consider any hint you've all been giving.
I already imagined that I might need to do without that detuning effect. As I'm going to play in a big band, it might do the trick anyway. But you're right: What I'd wish to achieve is a slightly smearing 70ies analog sound, and this might be far away.

Actually you might get close to the higher part, if you use 2 saw waves, 1 octave apart but the higher one slightly flat. Drifting and sloppy tuning might not be necessary as I originally thought.
But yes. Go ahead and experiment. There are not that many parameters to change in the synth engine after all.

You made me laugh. True, after 2 years of owning a NS3 beast, I also learned that this is a limited implementation of a VA synth. But I still need to recall the function and meaning of one or another knob. Thankfully, I'm familiar with half of what I should.

Sloppy tuning: try using effect vibe with very low rate. Or morphing by AT an analog delay , very short time , all wet no feedback using the keys like a violin vibrato

Re: Moog One sound?
I think a sound like that could be coaxed from a NS3 with a clever mix of samples/synth and maybe even using a bit of the combo organ plus an EP. I don't have a NS3 set up now, though will try to look into it this weekend. I really like his videos.
